Great running 1986 Toyota Hilux SR5 2WD Pickup Truck with Cold AC runs and drives as good as it looks with professionally installed LC Engineering SDS Super Charged 22RE. Only 9000 miles on built engine and LCE heavy duty clutch kit. 100% Rust free Tucson, Arizona truck. Never wrecked. Beautiful paint. Interior is clean and original. Needs nothing mechanically.5 Speed manual transmission with 9k miles on new LC Engineering HD Clutch Kit shifts smooth & tight as designed.LC Engineering SDS (Simple Digital System) Super Charged 2.4L 22RE super charged engine was professionally built 9,000 miles ago from the ground up using all new performance parts. Runs, drives and handles excellent. Incredibly fast. Starts every time with a click of the key. No smoke, no knocks, no leaks, no issues. Runs cool and smooth with a quiet exhaust. Just doubles the HP of the stock motor every time you step on the gas, making around 200 HP with only 6 lbs of boost and 91 octane pump gas. The only thing you hear when you step on the gas is the tell tale whine of that booster which can't help bring a smile to your face. These SDS systems require no special maintenance so the vehicle can be daily driven. The first and most operative word in the system is SIMPLE so it all starts with their programmable brain box ECU which is mounted under the passenger seat then the spark igniter coil pack assembly which completely eliminates the rotating distributor, cap & rotor. Finally the Super Charger itself which is a simple compressor that's been produced in this same basic configuration since the 1930's. The system never needs to be adjusted or re-programmed but you have the option of changing the settings with a hand held programmer. It's made by Magnuson, the same super charger manufacturer run on all the Toyota TRD vehicles. LC's been selling this setup for a couple decades now and have had great success. It's super reliable because it's all so simple. Any part is readily available and they have great tech support as well. Magnuson even has a service where if you ever have a mechanical issue with their super chargers you can ship it to them and they'll completely rebuild it for around $500. You can drive it all day long with the AC on in Tucson traffic and temp gauge never gets near half way mark. Will roast the tires in 1st and 2nd and spin them in 3rd with the AC on. Clean interior is all stock except for the floor mats, boost gauge and MoMo steering wheel. The red buttons on the wheel operate the horn. Everything works. Has a sun roof. AC blows ice cold. Heat blows hot. Kenwood deck with multiple speakers and CD changer under rear seat. Truck has a factory fit plastic bed liner. There's a few age cracks in the plastic. There's a class 3 receiver hitch out back.Mechanically the truck's been gone through stem to stern and virtually every wearable part was replaced. All the ball joints, rod ends, idler and pitman arm, KYB shocks, brakes and fluids were replaced within the last 9,000 miles. All the fluids and oils were again replaced within the last 100 miles. A new Denso AC compressor with expansion valve and other parts were installed less than a 100 miles ago as well when it was converted to the modern 134A freon. A new heavy duty Deka battery was recently fitted along with a Battery Buddy, a device that protects the battery from draining too low when not driven. If it's triggered it shuts off all power flow so that all you do is push a button on the device installed next to the battery and full power is restored. This truck is not only clean, straight and looks great but is RELIABLE, SMOOTH, TIGHT and VERY FAST. A now retired Tucson auto repair shop owner built the truck for his son's graduation present when the truck had 239k on it but son generated so many speeding tickets after only 9k miles that father took it away. I acquired at a sale wherein he sold off all his shop assets. I originally planned to convert the truck to a straight axle 4x4 because I have all the parts but in the end didn't have the heart to molest such a fine specimen. Because it's more than 25 years old this truck is eligible in all 50 States for Historic Plates and Collector Car Insurance Status which means you can arrange through outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty a $10,000 Full Coverage insurance policy for less than $150 per year which automatically makes it emissions exempt. He had it insured for $15,000 on his Collector Car policy because within the last 9,000 miles truck had over $10,000 worth of drive train work and over $3000 worth of paint and suspension work professionally completed. It's a great investment because these old rust free Hilux pickups only go up in value. Answer is excellent considering it's lived 32 years in the Arizona desert. The driver's side of these models never cracks because it's a hardened ABS plastic so they always look great. On the contrary, since it's inception K&N has always claimed that their "filters work better the dirtier they get". Keep in mind the filter's job is to block dirt. So obviously the dirtier it gets the less air passes through and the more dirt it necessarily blocks. So while it's true that a dirtier K&N filter provides less air flow to the engine, meaning less power, it's also true that a dirtier K&N filter also blocks more dirt into the engine, keeping it cleaner, which is the sole purpose of a filter. That's why we like to run our K&N filters dirty, but we understand rookies have to learn a thing or two over time the hard way, and maybe get their nosed rubbed into some dirt for good measure. There's actually been some tests done by UnderDog Racing Development (URD) to show that the Uni Filter system is superior to the K&N, except in certain key powerbands, and that's the kicker. What if you want your powerband in the spot that the K&N does better? The answer is for everyday use just let your K&N filter get dirty and sleep well at night.
