UPDATED INFORMATION: I just received an appraisal from Texas Direct Auto of $500 (this is a "trade-in" valuation.) This appraisal was based on a 20-minute inspection of the vehicle and a Carfax report. This trade-in valuation puts the car in the "Very Good" condition range. Using this trade-in valuation and 214,000 miles, Kelly Blue Book estimates the "Private Party Valuation" to be $1,268 - $3,483 with a "fair market value" of $2,376. Updated mileage estimate: 214,000 miles. This is the latest mileage reported by Carfax. Actual mileage is unknown since the odometer light failed several years ago. I believe the mileage was around 140,000 at the time of the failure. Road worthy and drivable 1998 Acura RL. Purchased as a certified used car in 2001. Mileage is estimated at 180,000. It has been well maintained and I have used full synthetic oil exclusively. The A/C and all electrical devices work (auto locks, windows, doors and mirrors.) The original media center has been replaced with a Pioneer CD / MP3 / USB player. The original Bose speaker system is still intact and fully functional. The mileage is an estimate b/c the light for the instrument panel for the speedometer and odometer failed (refer to the instrument panel photo include with this listing.) The ABS (anti-lock braking system) no longer works. This is the device that prevents the car from entering into a skid when you slam on the brakes. There is also a small oil leak near the timing belt that I have chosen not to fix. The leak is small enough that I don't notice it on the floor of my garage - but the mechanic notices it when I bring the car in for maintenance.
