For sale is 1983 Suzuki RM500 - project bike. I originally purchased this bike from East Coast Vintage (I know, I know, what was I thinking) about 4-5 years ago for 2,500 bucks. I put an additional 500 or so into it in replacement parts and parked it where is sat untouched until now. I purchased it with the intent of doing a full on rebuild. After completing rebuilds on two other RM500's and several Maico's I am burned out and have decided to sell this bike. If you are mechanically inclined this would be a good builder. FRAME # - JS1RM12A1D2100605 MOTOR # - M101-101313 When the bike was delivered to me it had , junk controls, ugly scratched gas tank, junk aftermarket plastic, cheapo seat cover, wrong pegs, etc. so I replaced them with the following parts that I purchased and installed - New seat cover, New NOS front fender, used but very nice OEM side covers with newly installed decals, used but very nice OEM rear fender, New NOS front number plate, new perches, New levers / grips , New NOS fork boots, New rear shock mud flap, New seat cover, New alum handlebars, located an purchased a nice tank and installed new graphics. I also tossed the crap aftermarket pipe and located a stock one in decent condition. I want to point out some things that will need to be addressed by the new owner. The bike has low compression. I have never attempted to start it so I would recommend a fresh top end. Sub frame on the right side had a weld repair under seat (see picture). Bike is missing the silencer which I used on another build. Seat bracket is missing but these are fairly easy to find on ebay. Also a past owner drilled a hole in the swingarm for a triangle stand. Rims looks decent tires are very nice. All in all its good bike now and worth someone putting the finishing touches on it. SHIPPING: Buyer is responsible for the arrangement and cost of shipping. I do have some good coast to coast and local shipping contacts I can refer to you. Once the bike is paid for I don't mind holding it for a month or two so that you can arrange shipping. PAYMENT: A small non-refundable deposit is required upon purchase with the balance to be paid within 7 days (unless we have communicated a payment plan through ebay email ahead of the purchase)
