Beside the daily errands runs, I was told she was the best weekend camping partner and reliable friend on couple enjoyable trips up to Canada. The previous owner had to give her up due to the change of family obligation. She was in great running condition when I brought her home but somehow cosmetic challenge last year. That's why I decided not only giving her a modern make over, but also ensure she is 100% mechanically up to date. Everything was stripped down to crank. Every single parts, nuts and bolts was inspected, cleaned, replaced if needed before putting back together. The few major area are, (but not limited) Frame was inspected and repainted.Front fork rebuilt : lower sliders cleaned/repainted, fresh fork oil, 7.5W, replacedFront brake system rebuilt: Brake pads inspected, 80% remain. Rotor is flat, and still in recommended range (5mm). new steel braced brake line installed. fresh brake fluid replacedFuel supply updated: new fuel lines, fuel filter (inside the gas tank) cleaned, carburetors were cleaned/rebuiltElectric system: Every single connector was off the frame inspected and cleaned.Charging system is putting out healthy 14.2 Volt when engine revs above ~1300 RPMEngine crank and connecting rods were inspectedEngine block, pistons, piston rings, valves were cleaned/measured/checked. Compression test shows respectfully 148 (L) and 150 (R) PSI (>130 PSI is considered excellence).Ignition timing/valve gaps were setNew brass neutral switch was replacedTransmission was washed with transmission fluid TWICE when it was off the bike. Not necessary, but this is just piece of mind.Rear brake pads were inspected, ~60% remain.New horn.New headlightNew handlebar end turn signalsNew tires/valves (both front and rear), balanced.All the seals/gaskets were inspected/replaced if neededEvery single nuts and bolts were cleaned/inspected and was torqued to spec. Mechanically, this bike is as good as it rolled out from the factory in Germany 31 years ago. Cosmetically, I want her to have the modern look, but also keeps her patina and characters.. She runs perfectly with a brand new look, but Overall, she is still a 31 years old lady WITHOUT plastic surgery. The combination of low center of gravity, short wheel base. low seat height (with narrow front seat portion) and high handlebar makes this bike a joy to ride. It's light, edge, easy, and comfortable. The amazing sound produced from the clean looking custom 2 into 1 exhaust system was solid, full, but not too loud (not annoying loud). She is super fun at back road, and comfortably cruising 70-80 MPH on highway. Scarlet truly needs NOTHING, but a new owner. I wish I could keep her, but garage space is limited and making wife happier is also important. This bike comes with ONE key, Clean New York State title, and Bill of sale.
