If the answer is yes, then this might be your new car! Not many people are aware of this technology, but this is a plug in hybrid. It's the best of both worlds, a marriage , if you will, between a tesla, and a prius. This car has plug in capability (with a standard 110v outlet at home) It charges at home fully in just under seven hours. After being charged, the car runs by default in "EV" mode for the first 21 miles of operation. In electric vehicle mode , or "EV", the car operates entirely on electricity and the gasoline motor never turns on. After the first 21 miles, if you are still driving, the car switches to hybrid mode and uses both the electric engine and the gasoline engine. In hybrid mode, this car delivers 95 city / 81 hwy mpg. That's not a misprint. The car has a normal gasoline engine and has a range of 550 miles , so yes , you can drive it accross the country. The cool thing is, that if you think about it...you probably don't drive 21 miles to work , or school. And...there are many places to plug this up. At commercial charging stations, like the free ones at Whole Foods market, or at many other stores and parks, the car charges from 0-100% in less than 2 hrs. That's because these stations are 240V stations. (You can get an inexpensive 240v charger for home use, also.) Despite this being a 2013 model, it wasn't sold new until May of 2014. So, for all intensive purposes, it might as well be a 2014, because the start of warranty wasn't unil May 2014. The powertrain warranty is 5yrs/60k miles, and all hybrid related systems, including the hybrid battery are 8 yrs /100k miles, so this car is under warranty until 100k miles or May 2022. I just had the car serviced at Ford of Wolfchase, all recalls completed, and all updates performed, it has a clean bill of health! This is a spacious, decent looking car, way prettier than a prius , that has all the amenities anyone would need ie; heated seats, Siruis Sat radio, navigation system, bluetooth, leather seats, voice recogition-you can speak to the car!, external keypad, and remote starting via the ford app on your phone. The price is a bargain, when you consider that you could drive to work on ZERO gasoline, plug up at work, and...drive home on ZERO gasoline. Rinse and repeat!
