Vehicle Detail
2002 Ford Explorer XLT V-8 2WD. The vehicle has a clean North Carolina title. I am not the owner, I am helping a friend sell it. This is a no reserve auction and I will tell you as much as I know about the vehicle. I will accept payment through PayPal and she can mail you the title and notarized bill of sale directly. Please no cash transactions as I want PayPal involved to protect both of us. Good communication is good business. It looks like this is the loaded edition. I gave it a quick wash in it cleaned up real nice. Under is no/little rust The exhaust and manifolds in great shape. At first glance it should pass emissions with no problems. If the truck had four-wheel-drive I would be keeping it. Tow hitch looks like it’s in great shape. THE GOOD Had to jumpstart the truck because it has been sitting for a while but fired right up. Runs fine idles fine. Shifts into forward and reverse fine. brakes feel great and are normal. There is no oil spots under the engine, does not appear to be leaking engine oil or transmission fluid. There was no smoke when I started it and there’s no smoke as it drives, the engine is in great shape. The underside of the truck is in excellent condition, there is no rust in the exhaust looks great. Everything seems to work including the air conditioning. It blows cold. It even has rear air conditioning. With third row seating. The stock stereo might have something wrong with it, not sure so I just cut it off. Assume it is not functional. Keyless entry works as well as the punch code door access and the stock code in the owners manual is the current code. Pretty cool for a vehicle of this age. All the windows go up and down as they should and the keyless entry pops the back windshield for easy access. All power locks work all doors open and close as they should I couldn’t find anything bad. Seats look like they’re in great shape and looks like there’s a small tear in the driver seat, see photo All the gauges on the dash are working and there are no lights present. That means there are no service automobile or any other lights on the dash while the engine is running. The computer is happy with the engine. The red light the photo is stating the doors are open. That light turns off when doors are closed. THE BAD The automatic transmission needs to be serviced. Does not want to shift at the normal points. However I was able to get to shift into second gear by using the manual shift lever on the tree. As I said, shifts into forward normal shifts into reverse normal. Could not get it going faster than 30 miles an hour as the truck is not registered and I did not want to get a ticket for driving it in a 45 mile zone. But at first glance, I expect flushing and servicing the transmission would fix these problems. Engine has good power and transmission accelerates as it should. All the exhaust is in excellent condition muffler is working as it should. Brakes evenly, does not pull left or right when driving down the street. Tread on the rear tires good, tread on the front tires acceptable but need to be replaced soon. I will answer questions as best I can. There is an issue with the electric driver seat motor, it will go up and down. I can hear the motor clicking for fwd and reverse but it will not move. Don’t know if there is something lodged in the track or if the motor is shot. Seat is stuck all the way forward. Problem with passenger seat, the joystick for moving the seat is missing. Do not know if the motor do not know if the motor works or not. The seat is in the all the way back position. As I already mentioned had to jumpstart the truck to get it running so I don’t know if the battery need to charge or needs to be replaced. However I did notice the amp meter on the dashboard is functioning normal and appeared to be charging with no lights on the dash. It appears the alternator is working properly. Looks like it was backed into something on the passenger rear quarter panel. Minor damage. See photo. The rest of the truck looks like it’s in very good cosmetic condition. And as I said the underside is in excellent condition for its year. Driver side rear dual lightbulb for brakes and blinker needs replaced. All other lights and functions are working. Thanks for reading The Vin number should tell you more information also. Free to ask questions Good communication means a good experience for both of us.
