Vehicle Detail
I'm selling my beautiful dolphin gray 2013 Tesla Model S. This car is beautiful inside and out and is still under warranty!! She has a 60kWh battery, a panoramic sunroof, and free supercharging for life. I bought this car Certified Preowned (CPO) directly from Tesla in February of 2016. The manufacturer's warranty is good until February 2020 or until she reaches 102,047 miles, whichever comes first. A separate warranty for the battery and drive unit is good until the car reaches her 8th birthday or 125,000 miles!! The current mileage is 88,248 miles, but I'm driving every day. For daily driving, I charge to 90% (174 miles of range). On trips, I charge to 100% (191 miles of range). Since I've had the car, I've averaged 285Wh per mile -- with much better efficiency in the Spring, Summer and Fall than in the Winter. There is a bump on her record. Last Fall, she got pinged on the nose right where the nose cone and hood meet. She now sports a new nose cone and a new hood, courtesy of our local Tesla-certified body shop... and she's better than ever!! She also got new tires last May (at around 75,000 miles). And did I mention she's still under warranty? Now... I'm sure you know a lot of the big things about the Model S already, but I want to share some of the little things that I enjoy: No daily stops. No more gas stations, no oil changes. This car is a daily commuter's dream!!One pedal driving. The regen kicks in when you take your foot off of the accelerator -- it's not just on the brake pedal. This car is basically a one pedal driver, where the only time I even touch the brake pedal is to complete a full stop. She's quick. They claim a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds, but I think that's a little conservative. And the electric motor gives you instant torque off the line.Storage. The amount of space in this thing is amazing. Even the front trunk ("frunk") is huge. The big giant map. Although the huge touchscreen is versatile -- and great for music as well (AM/FM/Slacker/TuneIn) -- it's nice to simply have a big giant Google map filling the whole thing, with your car as a red arrow right in the middle. I know a lot more about how the world around me is put together just from driving this thing -- and I've learned some serious short cuts as well!!Superchargers. Have you seen Tesla's supercharger map lately? Even with the 60kWh battery, you can go anywhere!! The first weekend I had it, I had to make a trip from Annapolis to about an hour north of West Point (and back) -- and loved every mile of it.She's awesome after sunset. A small LED light in each door handle makes it easy to get in after dark -- and soft ambient light inside makes you glad once you're there.Driver profiles. You can put together a profile for each individual driver -- and the car will remember exactly where you like the seat and where you like the wheel. She will even remember your preferred setting for regen, creep, and steering stiffness -- and whether you would like everything moved after you park for ease of entry and exit.Heated front seats. Pretty nice here in the mid-Atlantic in the winter.Programmable thumb wheels. Would you prefer that they turn up the volume, increase the fan speed, or open the sunroof? Your wish is their command....She's got a name. You can actually name your car, and the name shows up on the screen and in the app. I'm calling her "Grey Wind", but I'm sure she'll still answer to you if you choose to change it....The beautiful fob. No key to turn, just a little stylized Model S in your pocket. Press the front to pop the frunk or the rear to pop the trunk. Lock and unlock by pressing (or double clicking) in the middle. The app. You can warm up or cool the cabin, locate your car, start your car, lock and unlock, start and stop charging, all from your phone. Also... This is an earlier Model S, so there are some things you might expect with a new car that aren't available here: No autopilot. In fact, this car doesn't have a single exterior sensor on her bumpers -- she won't tell you if you're close to lane lines, if there's someone in your blind spot, or anything. She just drives like a good old-fashioned muscle car!!No navigation. There's a map, and you can ask where things are and she'll point to them, but she won't explicitly tell you where to turn and how to get there....Manual mirrors. They don't auto-fold and mirror positioning is not part of the driver profile.Manual trunk. No power liftgate on this one. You can pop the frunk or the trunk from the fob -- or from the giant touch screen -- but you're gonna have to open and close 'em yourself. :)Rear wheel drive. No all-wheel drive here, although you do get a lot more frunk space in exchange. Don't hesitate to ask any questions -- I love this car and am happy to talk about it!!
