Vehicle Detail

This bike is not a project that I have given up on. I got it in a trade knowing that it was not a bike I wanted to keep. I do know that it is very much worth restoring and I am hoping to find the person who wants to do that. The bad news is obviously that someone tried to make a chopper out of it years ago. Lots of good news, though:- The numbers on the frame and engine match- The engine turns over nicely and has good compression- There are no broken fins on the engine- The Amal carbs appear to be original and the slides move smoothly in their bores- The frame and swing arm appear 100% stock with no evidence of any cutting, welding, or crash damage- It rolls easily and the brakes are operational Stamped into the engine is the number G-15 CS 108793. Hopefully you can see it in the picture. The "C" may be an "O". Stamped into the left frame downtube at the steering head is the number 108793. I know nothing of its history. The guy I got it from knew nothing about its history. It looks to me like someone watched Easy Rider in the late '60s and decided to make this bike into a chopper, then parked it for about 45 years. It does NOT have a title. eBay has no way to denote that in its listings so I want to make it clear that I have no title for it. Titles for antiques bikes are pretty easy to get in most states, though. I have never tried to start this bike. I do not know if the mileage is accurate or if the speedometer is original to the bike. I'm also not sure if the wheels and brakes are original to it either. I have no doubt that if you're looking at this listing you know a lot more about Matchless-Nortons than I do. I have no other parts for it. Just the bike itself as you see it. This is a great start for a rewarding restoration project. If there is anything you need to know about it I will do everything I can to answer any questions you may have. If you are the winning bidder I can keep it stored inside for you as long as you need until you can pick it up or have it shipped.
