Up for sale is my 2004 BMW X5 3.0Black with Black Leather ***Mechanics Special - Needs Engine Work - Drives but has misfire and low compression - SOLD AS IS*** I purchased this car a few weeks ago. It ran fine for a week and about 50 miles. At highway speeds, the check engine light went on and the car started running rough. After testing it seems to have an engine issue with little or no compression on Cyl-3. Steps taken so far:New Plugs (6)New Coils (6)New Injector for Cyl-3Rislone and other Oil TreatmentsInjector Cleaner overnight treatments in Cyl-3 - and othersNew Valve Cover GasketCAMs look good, Vanos looks good.Some water/oil mix seen under valve cover.Compression at last test:1 - 2102 - 1953 - 40 (max I have tested - fluctuates)4 - 1505 - 1606 - 175 Note that the compression is very low on Cyl-3. That is the Cyl that has shown the misfire. There have been a couple of other random misfires (4,6) through testing but could just be all of the plugging in and out of the coils, etc. Right now as it sits, error is Cyl-3 THIS CAR NEEDS A MECHANIC AND IS BEING SOLD AS-IS. Possible issues are:Head GasketBad Valve(s)Bad Rings(s)Other Cylinder / Piston problems??? I do not have the time or interest in taking the head off and looking further. Otherwise, the car ran well. No issues with transmission, all lights worked, windows, radio, heat, etc. I think the AC works but it is not easy to tell since it is cold out - no guarantees. Headlights needed buffing out. I did some but some more would make it better. It has cold weather package. The oil needs to be changed. Currently, there is older oil with 2 Qts of Rislone added. The only other things I know of now are that the drivers side, rear door only opens from the inside. I have not seen any leaks but I have not taken off the skid plate to confirm. Please assume that with a 230k mile BMW, there will be other things wrong. There is a little separation in the arm rests at the seam on both passenger and driver sides, nothing major. The drivers side mirror could use some attention or replacement. I purchased this car to clean up the little issues and give to kids to use. I am selling this cheap because I don't have time or interest in working on it anymore. The body is in nice shape and interior looks great. Wheels and TiresThere are 4 nice wheels on the car now. Two of the tires are good/very good, 2 are good/not so good. I have 4 almost new tires mounted on Porsche wheels, tires are the right size for the car. I also have 4 other BMW wheels. One of the tires are brand new, 2 are bad, and one wheel does not have a tire mounted. I will include all of the other wheels and tires mentioned above. I have tried to tell you everything I know about the car. Please feel free to ask questions. I am selling this with no reserve. The car will drive but I would not drive it far.
