Vehicle Detail
2002 Volkswagen Jetta VR6, 4-door 5-passenger sedan, fully loaded, automatic, power everything, dark green with tan leather interior, sunroof, CD changer/cassette player, 165K miles. This is my daily driver and will continue to be driven around town, so the mileage will roll up slightly. $2000 OBO. Can't part out, please don't ask. This is a great project car for someone with the tools and time - I've had it for 3 months and 3000 miles, but it's a bit too much for me to tackle the repairs myself, so I've decided to sell.Laundry list (feel free to ask questions; I want to be completely above-board here):-some slight rust on wheel wells, exactly the same on both sides (see photos - this is minor, body is in great shape otherwise)-needs a clamp on a secondary air hose - does not affect drivability, and it passed emissions, however this means the check engine light is on. -normal amount of scuffing/scratches on paint and plastic: no scrapes, no accidents that I know of, this is a 15 year old vehicle and has aged normally-needs timing chain replacement in the near future (this is why I'm selling it - previous owner didn't disclose that information, and I don't have the funds to take care of it at this time)-hinge on armrest base is broken, so it's fallen down. Still functional.-is going to need a suspension overhaul if you want it to drive comfortably in the long-term (again: this is a relatively easy thing to do yourself, I just don't have the time or inclination)-mechanic says there are very slight leaks on both oil and coolant - not enough to go after, but something to be aware of. I have had no issues with temperature or oil warnings. -parking brake cables will need replacing (easy/cheap fix)-rotor arm will need replacing (easy/cheap fix)-gas cap door doesn't spring open. I use a quarter or a key to pop it open. The good stuff:-this is a very fast car, but it doesn't look that way, so you're not likely to get pulled over.-passed CT emissions with no problems-brakes are good-even during a very cold winter, I have had no trouble starting it every morning = battery is great-clean title-heat and AC both work great: no weird smells, no mice, cabin air filter looks good-fuel economy is fine considering that this is a VR6 (averaging around 23mpg around town) - takes 91 octane or higher (the higher, the better the fuel economy)-heated seats (they get HOT), heated mirrors, fully operational moonroof/sunroof, no leaks anywhere-Monsoon Premium CD changer/cassette tape player/AM/FM radio works fine, as do all speakers. There are audio controls on the steering wheel.-power leather front seats with memory control settings for 3 drivers-windshield wiper blades bought new 3 months ago-trunk is wicked roomy (you can fit an entire good-size body, I mean, uh, Christmas tree in this car if you fold the rear seats down!)-BRAND NEW winter tires (225-45-17) comes with full-sized unused spare, and all the associated tire-changing parts, original manual, etc. Literally had these installed 01/25/18 and they were over $600-charging outlets are hot, meaning they continue to charge while the car is off WITHOUT ever draining the battery -no cracks or chips to any glass.-new heavy duty floormats -doesn't appear to have any rust issues underneath, and I've kept it washed to keep salt off during these winter months.Okay! That about covers it. I've tried to put as much information as I can here - if you have more questions or are interested in taking a look, please send me a message: I'm more than happy to schedule a test drive and I'm also happy to put you directly in touch with my mechanic, who can explain the issues in more detail. $500 deposit required via Paypal within 24 hours of auction's end. You can make your own shipping arrangements, or you can pick it up in person. Cash, personal check (must clear before pickup/shipping), or money order are all fine for balance of payment - however, please note: a bid is legally binding and non-paying bidders will be reported to eBay promptly.
