2001 BMW 330i is in decent shape. Only body damage is a small dent in the left rear quarter panel shown in photo. Runs great with 211,300 miles. The reason I am selling is I am having a transmission problem. The transmission was completely professionally rebuilt about 2 years ago ($3,000.00) including a rebuilt torque converter. Unfortunately the company that did the job only had a 12,000 mile 1 year warranty. They did tell me that the valve body was not included in the rebuild and that the problems I am now having sound like valve body related issues. The problem is transmission occasionally slips causing the car to go into limp mode. When it goes into limp mode it will not move forward or reverse. If I start the car in neutral it clears limp mode and moves again. The problem is worse when the transmission is hot. I drove the car on short trips for weeks using just the steptronic shifting feature with no problems and recently got it smogged. But now lately it also acts like its slipping using the steptronic shifting. The dealer said that many things can cause this fault, even just a bad battery! I have spoken to a few transmission repair companies and they all say I will spend too much money trying to have them diagnose the problem and should just get it rebuilt again. Certainly I'm not going to spend another $3,000 to do that. A/C blows cold and all options work and it is loaded. The only other problems are a burned out headlight, a bad anti lock brake control (brakes work great just no anti-lock) and the left rear window actuator needs to be replaced. Newer Michelin tires are in excellent condition! I just had the car smogged but have not paid for new registration. I am confident the buyer can drive the car home if less than 30 miles but would suggest towing it if you are further. It might go further without going into a fault but I wouldn't risk it.
