Perhaps it had a leak and they chose to seal it rather than repair it. It appears to be completely intact and if desired, could be repaired to open. Mechanically the vehicle needs nothing. There is a very small rip (wear spot) on the driver seat and the front passenger window has a small area of fog. Yes, it would make a GOOD daily driver, very solid, reliable, and tight.
