Vehicle Detail
2001 BMW 330i is in decent shape. Only body damage is a small dent in the left rear quarter panel shown in photo. Runs and shifts great with 211,300 miles. The reason I am selling it is that I started getting a engine code P0734 and P1732 which puts the car in limp mode and the car will not move. Turn it off and restart with the gearshift in neutral and it drives fine again. The transmission was completely rebuilt about 2 years ago ($3,000.00). The dealer said that many things can cause this fault, even just a bad battery! Because of the age and mileage and the fact that I have exhausted my abilities to fix it I have decided to sell it to someone with some auto repair knowledge as opposed to getting into dealership service costs. A/C blows cold and all options work and it is loaded. The only other problems are a burned out headlight, a bad anti lock brake control and the left rear window actuator needs to be replaced. I also have new front and rear O2 sensors which I was unable to install. Michelin tires like new! Update 12/6/17: I have been driving the BMW daily for short trips since my original listing. Although I still have 2 codes, P0734 and pdP0734, I have not had a limp mode come active. Over the past 4 days I have driven 84 miles. One thing I have noticed is that sometimes, not always, in "D" mode I get a shift stumble or hard shift. When using the steptronic manual shift it is flawless both upshifting and downshifting. I wish I could figure this out and fix it because I love this car! One additional thing I forgot to mention in the original posting is that the anti lock brake control module needs to be replaced. I see online that it is a common problem that a small internal wire breaks. This has been bad for about 3-4 years now and other than not having anti lock brakes has not caused any issues.
