Up for auction is a 1980 Honda CB650. I'm selling this for a neighbor who is the original owner and purchased this from the local Honda dealer in Mamaroneck NY. Due to a number of personal reasons, the owner only rode this bike for about one year. He put about 1900 miles on it during that time and then took the motorcycle off the road. Unfortunately, this bike was stored outdoors for 35 years in Harrison NY. Good news is the owner did cover the bike as best he could and removed the seat (excellent condition), gas tank, side covers, fenders and mirrors storing them indoors the entire time. Also, he properly put oil in each cylinder and rotated the motor periodically. He asked me to see what I could do to sell this bike for him. I have worked on it to get it in very good running condition. The following is a list of things I have done to get it road worthy:Replaced front tire (new tire and tube) and wheel assembly (good used one) (old tire dry rotted and rim badly rusted)Changed oil and filterRemoved carburetor bowls for cleaning and replaced idle jet, needle and seat valves in all four carbsAdjusted carburetors Removed badly rusted original dual exhaust and replaced with 4 into 1 after market type exhaustInstalled new battery and tested the charging system...all good.Installed new spark plugsReplaced the front caliper with a good used one (old one was frozen)Replaced shift lever with a used non rusted Honda shift lever, however this lever is not the exact style as the original and should be noted as such.Installed battery charger port connection shown in side cover photo We have also purchased a used rear wheel assembly, which I have not installed, but will include in the sale of the bike. Although the rear tire appears in good condition, it should also be replaced with the rear wheel assembly and tube as it is the original tire and may be prone to failure. The left side fork seal is leaking and also should be replaced. This does not have to be done immediately, but should ultimately be replaced. I have included photos of many areas of the bike so you can see what is rusted as a result of being stored outdoors for many years. We also picked up two used fork covers (note: fork covers look better in the photos then they actually are) and chain adjusters that are in the photos and will be included in the auction. What you see in the photos is included in the auction with the exception of the pouch attached to the rear grab bar behind the seat. I also included a couple of videos of the bike running and demonstrating that all electrical components function as they should. The video links are below. The engine runs very well. It is apparent when you ride this bike that is has very low miles. The clutch and transmission operate flawlessly. If you are looking for a Honda CB650 to restore or just ride with minimal work, this is a great find and you will not be disappointed in this bike. This motorcycle is sold as is and without warranty.
