Vehicle Detail

2003 Volkswagen TDI Diesel Golf, automatic, 4-door, 5-passenger hatchback, 191K miles, silver with grey fabric interior, this has been my daily driver for 2 years/60K miles. Regularly, professionally maintained. Can't part out and can't ship, please don't ask. You are welcome to make your own arrangements for having the vehicle shipped AFTER payment in full has been arranged/cleared, etc.Laundry list (feel free to ask questions; I want to be completely above-board here):-some rust on trunk hatch (see photos)-needs replacement wheel-well liners in front and the undercarriage "cover" (cheap plastic parts that have broken and fallen off over time, not essential, just full disclosure)-needs motor mounts and a ball bearing within the next thousand miles. Apparently the motor slipped down a little and is beginning to wear a hole in something else, so this does need to get done fairly soon (shouldn't be too expensive a fix)-Transmission has started to slip - mechanic says still fully driveable for around town usage, I just don't have A. the time or inclination to do a rebuild (can apparently be converted to manual transmission for less money than repairing the automatic?) on my own, or B. the money to buy a restored transmission, or C. the ability to pull a good transmission from a scrapyard. If you do - GREAT, this is your car, and it's priced accordingly.-normal amount of scuffing/scratches on paint and plastic: no scrapes, no accidents, this is a 14 year old vehicle and has aged appropriately-one main headlight bulb (just running light! blinker/high beams not affected) is out (again - cheap fix)-front charger outlet and the backlight for the temperature controls is out (probably a fuse - cheap fix)-lid hinge on middle armrest is broken (cheap fix)-the tiny black plastic knobs on the stereo have all fallen off (cheap fix, not necessary, also they're pretty much interchangeable from ANY other VW of the same era)-yes, the rims do not match (see: interchangeability. At one point we had 3 VWs in the family and a lot of swapping happened. This is what I ended up with, and it's what the good tires are on, so....)The good stuff:-I have records for maintenance for the last 2 years, just trying to pull them all together. Anything that has worn out or needed fixing, I have gotten done promptly.-FULL brake overhaul down to the calipers at 175K - these should last for a LONG time-just passed CT emissions with no problems-no lights on dash!!! I repeat, NO LIGHTS ON DASH!-previous owner (mechanic/car salesman) replaced EVERYTHING that goes at 130-150K, including but not limited to serpentine belts, timing belts, water pump, etc., all of which can be big-ticket items if they go wrong-heat and AC both work great: no weird smells, no mice-never smoked in, to my knowledge (again, no weird smells!)-fuel economy is outrageously good (450-525 miles per tank depending on how freighted the car is/how fast you're driving, etc) - at current diesel prices, it costs about $30-35 to get a full tank (!!)-heated seats (they get HOT), heated mirrors, fully operational moonroof/sunroof, no leaks anywhere-Monsoon Premium CD player/cassette tape player/AM/FM radio works fine, as do all speakers. I will throw in a tape adaptor (connect any phone with a jack and play your own music) if you want.-seats are manually adjustable, but that's one less thing to break, AND they recline almost flat. I have slept in this car a lot on cross-country trips and it's actually quite comfortable. -trunk is wicked roomy (you can fit an entire good-size body, I mean, uh, Christmas tree in this car if you fold the rear seats down!)-tires are all-seasons (195/65/15); new this spring - comes with full-sized unused spare, and all the associated tire-changing parts, original manual, etc.-charging outlets (one in front is out at the moment, as mentioned, the one in back is fine) are hot, meaning they continue to charge while the car is off WITHOUT ever draining the battery-no leaks, doesn't burn oil, relatively new windshield wipers, no cracks or chips to any glass.-this is not a hot-rod, and it hasn't been driven that way. It's my second diesel VW - they're getting harder to find (perhaps for obvious reasons), and I'm putting this under the "plus" column because if you spend any amount of time shopping for a used VW, you may have noticed most of them have descriptions like "HELLA DOPE AND SUPER SLAMMED WITH SCHMACKINGRÄVEN COILS. DOESN'T RUN BUT I STILL WANT $2K BECAUSE THE COILS ARE AMAZING." -..........this is not that car. No fancy coils. No special spoilers. No custom paint jobs. - Not super likely you'll get pulled over a bunch in this car either, because, as aforementioned, it's not a hot-rod.Just a couple other things to point out: DIESEL DIESEL DIESEL. Theoretically, if the fixes I mentioned are made, this motor can run to 500K or more with no problem, it's what they were made to do. Diesel fuel is everywhere, don't let that put you off. If you're handy, this would be a great candidate for conversion to veggie fuel. I always wanted to and never had the time.Okay! That about covers it. I've tried to put as much information as I can here - if you have more questions or are interested in taking a look, please send me an email: I'm more than happy to schedule a test drive (located in the New Preston area) and I'm also happy to put you directly in touch with my mechanic, who can explain the issues in more detail. He has been the only one maintaining it for 2+ years. It's been a really safe and great car, and if I had the money, I would FAR rather get the work done than part with it. It's a fun drive. I will remove the bumper stickers if you want, otherwise, please consider them a bonus. On Oct-23-17 at 07:55:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: I meant wheel bearing, not ball bearing, sorry, it's been a long week. I should also say that the car is for sale locally (craigslist and facebook messenger). I will leave those listings up until this listing is completed - but as far as I'm concerned, this takes precedence.
