Vehicle Detail

1986 AMC JEEP CJ-7 4x4 Six Cylinder, Automatic Transmission With Western Full Hydraulic Snow Plow OVERVIEW/ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: Well operating and driving CJ7 with power angling Western plow system. Strong engine and transmission that gets the job done! Engine starts quickly/easily and ides well and has good throttle response. Pulls well and plows very well. Fleet mechanically maintained. Speedometer fuel and temp gauges became non-functioning and the local Jeep dealer replaced the whole speedo cluster at 37,070 miles (mileage etched into engine compartment cowl for reference) and shows 16,414 on the replacement unit for a grand total 53,484 original miles on chassis, body, engine and transmission. (about 7% of that total spent plowing small parking lot) No bent frame or axles ever. Brakes function and brakes in a straight line, no pulling or pulsing. Steers straight and easy. HISTORY: Was owned by a man living in Chicago, IL then was sold to another man in Wilmette, IL in the early 90's for his son's graduation present then sold about four years later to a property management company for running errands, etc. Then transferred to a home developer for maintaining the model home parking lot, Finally acquired by another property management around 2006 for use running errands and short route plowing for several nearby properties, during this last ten years. As such, the past usage is when the jeep was used in salty roads vs the private unsalted road and parking lot it plowed. The resulting body rust is from that last usage. BODY/FRAME: Original paint code 3B Sebring Red. The frame and main center tub body structure is strong. The sides and back body tub perimeters and part of the front floor pans have rust perforation and has started to affect the outer structure. It is recommended that the rear body mount donuts and metal box mounts be repaired as the left rear fender has started to sag about 1 1/4" or so making the doors harder to close. Can easily be used as is but you should consider the repair as it will require more work if left for a couple more years, etc. The side edge of the front floors are separating from the outer rocker panels at various side locations. All original body and tub! All-steel repair body parts are available from JC Whitney for all rust repair areas on this jeep at approx $1500 if going for a full body restoration. The base of the windshield has rust holes but rest of frame is still strong. The windshield was last folded down 2 years ago for some summer enjoyment. All doors and tailgate swing freely on the hinges. the passenger side door has heavy surface rust and some ready to perforate areas but is still very strong and no sagging on its hinges. The Jeep still wears original paint except for the lower sides. The wheels are original paint, too. The original top is in strong solid condition with original paint fading and some minor surface rust on the rear hatch. INTERIOR: Factory original deluxe interior, with nice seats, red carpet and factory red dash. red padded doors. Gauges work, gauge lighting works. Bright light floor switch needs replace. Rear dome light may need new bulb- was working few month back.Original key set with JEEP logo. Heater, defroster, fan and controls work. Original Jeep owners manual and vinyl binder. ELECTRICAL: All exterior lights working and signals function including plow system lights, exception roof beacon was working past spring but the belt for the belt ($4.00 part) drive was occasionally slipping. The beacon light bulbs were both working last checked. When it gets below 20 degrees the beacon needed a tap on the interior of the hardtop- suspect some proper lube would help. Wipers work. Charging system is good and fitted with a high-output alternator. Plow light/vehicle light switch. Beacon switch.
