Original 286/1 sidecar in excellent condition with original Steib Nurnberg stamping. Original Drilastic seats. Many other rare and original BMW and Steib parts. Wheels, brass emblems, struts, fenders, steel pannier boxes, etc.. New braided electrical harness. New Engelbrecht tires. New muffler. Old BMW dataplate 763573. Blue Ribbon winner of 1993 “Eyes on Classics” concourse in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Untouched, “virgin” Panzer gray paint from 1943 was discovered under the spare wheel mounting plate. Fresh computer-matched eggshell Panzer gray paint throughout. Vehicle ran well during my period of stewardship, 1991-2015. A rebuilt gearbox was installed, and carburetors were replaced with new reproductions. Started easily, bike ran strong and shifted smooth, and vehicle ran better than ever. At that point, we decided to have it professionally disassembled and repainted by a military vehicle specialist. The restoration shop ceased operations and returned the vehicle in September 2017. It has been 90 percent reassembled, but requires final reassembly. There are some missing parts, see photos. Sidecar tire needs tube, missing grip, electrical and brake connections are uninstalled. I am unable to do the work myself due to other collecting priorities. Vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty. Box of German bolts, misc. small parts and Xerox of owner’s manual are included. This vehicle has been appraised by a WWII BMW collector as, “One of the most original bikes he has seen, potentially one of the finest in existence." Realizing that additional assembly and parts are needed, vehicle is being offered for best offer over $29,000. Title is clear.
