Vehicle Detail

1974 Plymouth Valiant with 37k original miles. I'm selling because I don't have the equipment or the money to make necessary repairs. I love the car, but as it is, it'll just keep rusting away. I've set the starting price very low with no reserve because I want to sell it to someone who will fix it, or at least make use of it, rather than sell it for scrap metal. I can no longer keep it myself, we need the room. Don't hesitate to ask for more pictures or videos, I have more than Ebay allows. Feel free to request specific ones as well. TransportingThe engine runs extremely well, and the car can be moved on its own power. HOWEVER, it cannot be driven on the road because one of the brake lines has shot out the brake fluid before, so brakes are not guaranteed to be there. I've added brake fluid and it doesn't actively leak, so the brakes operate as long as you're going slowly. In other words, the car will likely need to be transported using a trailer, but it can drive on and off one. Buyer is responsible for transporting it. General ConditionThe interior and the top half of the exterior is in beatiful shape, but the bottom, rocker panels and quarter panels are rusting out. The driver's side is in worse shape as is expected. I have plenty more pictures of the rust that I wasn't able to add to the listing, so feel free to ask for them. I've done a fair amount of work on the engine, which is my area of expertise, and it runs beautifully. There are no missing parts to my knowledge. Two chrome trim pieces are off the car, and one of them (left rear wheel well strip) is rusted pretty badly. The long chrome strip that goes at the top of the rocker panel is intact, I just removed it to get a better look at the rusting. HistoryI bought the car in February 2009 from a dealership in Oklahoma, who had received it from the original owner. It had been drained and on blocks in a garage for 20 years as the original owner was unable to continue driving a car. It was driven regularly and kept in a car park from 2009 to 2011 when we lived in an apartment. Since then, it has been in a garage, and the last time I actively drove it was in 2013. I've been starting it, pulling out of the garage, giving it a wash, and then let it run for a bit regularly - every few months or so. Work I've DoneNew gaskets on head and manifolds in 2009, new belts, radiator hoseCarburetor completely rebuilt with new parts in 2010New distributor, ECU, plugs + wires and ignition coil in 2010Tuned timing, lifters, carburetor, checked cylinder compression in 2011New fuel line from the pump to the carburetor in 2016 with AN-fitted lines. I ran the line over the engine rather than under it, because the exhaust manifold makes the original route too hot. This is a pretty common issue with Slant 6 engines.Issues I'm Aware OfRust! Undercarriage, rocker panels, quarter panels. Engine compartment rust is mostly surface rust, but a few deeper spots on the inside fenders.Brake line leaks if brakes are hit hard.Fuel gauge never worked, likely the sensor in the tank or the grounding strip is broken.Fuel line inside the tank must have a hole in it, because it'll start sucking air when you get to less than about 20% tank. The chrome strip from the left rear wheel well is in pretty bad shape, the rust from the bodywork ate into it.AM Radio used to work, but there's no longer any sound.Fuel pump appears to be weak, with just the starter motor it appears to not be enough to get fuel to a bone dry carburator. In practice, this means that after sitting for weeks, you need to pour a little gas down the carburetor throat, which will fire the engine enough for the pump to get past the initial hurdle.Feel free to contact me with any questions, I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks for looking.
