Vehicle Detail
Medical condition (not kidding) requires sale. No reserve. Fair starting price because it needs to move. I'm not going to get back what I have in it - oh well. Lemons, lemonade, and all that. I've also listed a Mercedes E320 on eBay. Both must go. I purchased this Eldorado only a few months ago. Med diagnosis just a few weeks ago. Car was shipped in on a truck just as it sits now. I changed the fluids and drove it about 100 miles - that's it. Sad in ways. None of the work that you see done on it is of my doing. Previous owner obviously spent a lot which is why I bought it. What has been finished is nice. I would keep it, but as said, I've an issue and need cash. It will make someone a great car with just a bit of work. Lots of miles, but lots of work already done on it too. Very very nice paint work, hard fiberglass boot (factory), plus soft boot. NOT the original color. Blue Biarritz interior (dual front power, pillowed seats) obviously taken from a later coupe - in very good condition. Engine shows signs of being rebuilt, as does trans. Very nice (and expensive) aluminum multi-core radiator and other serious work were the indications why I bought it in the first place. A/C works. Cruise does not. I've had it up to 75 on the highway - runs well - no weird vibrations. Body and mechanicals are pretty much sorted - but some work clearly remains yet to be done (i.e. cruise). Interior still needs some work (i.e. dash cracks, steering column trim), gaskets, and other odds and ends. Looks great from 10 feet (essentially due to interior trim and weather stripping), a worthy car to buy and tweak. I want everyone reading this aware that if they get this car for only $5000 - it's a bargain and a half and then some. If you pay $15,000 - which would be fair, you are not getting a $35,000 car - but you are getting a car which can become that good - with the addition of time and money. And last, don't pay more than $23,000 or so - it will be hard to get your money back. Fully driveable. Described accurately. Value is there up to about $12-15K as a base for a solid nice condition driver and parade car. Sold as is, where is. Get your ducks in a row before bidding. $500 deposit required within 24 hours of auction close. Balance via cash (in person), wire transfer, or official check drawn on major US bank via FedEx within 7 calendar days of auction end. Once funds have cleared I will either hand you (in person) or FedEx overnight the title and bill of sale. You are responsible to pick up the car or have it transported with 2 weeks after payment. After that I charge $150 / month or portion for storage - as that's what it costs me. In response to questions: It could be made into concours condition, but will always be deducted points because the paint is not original color nor is the interior. As a concours car it would be worth about $37,000. To get to that point it needs about $12,000 worth of work in labor and materials - and it still would not have original paint. While all things which need doing are individually nigly items, parts are hard to come by and expensive, and as is often the case - you touch one thing and something else needs work. It's a good car. It can be driven as is and look good. You will most likely want to work on it to make it better. Another question was why I rated this a 10 footer. It's not because of the paint - the paint is great. The paint is probably 1/2 footer - it is excellent. But as you get closer you notice the dash has a crack, the steering wheel is the wrong one for the car, the rear seat was not mounted straight and the rear pillow has a tuck in it, the foam gaskets around the windows, doors and trunk are ratty and need replacement, there are some trim screws missing or in the wrong place, etc, etc. When the top is up you see that it needs some adjustment to be perfectly flat. From 10 feet it looks perfect. Close up - there's a bit of work left to do - as quite fully explained. Look at the pictures, judge for yourself, call, ask questions. Go look at Hagerty values. They rate a #4 car at $8,300. A #3 car - which this one certainly is at $15,000, a #2 car which this one can become with some work at $23,500, and finally a #1 car - which this one can become with about $12K of parts and work, at $37,000. What sorts of things do I include in that $12K - a custom bent 100% stainless exhaust correct for this car, the exhaust manifolds removed, ceramic coated, and replaced. All weatherstripping, door seals, trunk replaced. Hood pad purchased and installed. The cruise brought to working condition. The carpets fully replaced. Dash top replaced. Dash lower properly aligned and refastened. Seat plastic trim properly fastened down. Hood re-aligned. Door hinge and strikers replaced and / or aligned. Interior side trim / door panels reattached correctly. Rear seat back correctly fastened. Trunk trim correctly positioned and spare cover bought and installed. Things like that. I don't think it's $12K of parts alone, I believe its $12K of parts and the value of the labor to install them. Do it yourself, and it can be done for a 1/3 that number in parts alone. Judge for yourself and bid accordingly. Someone is going to get a great car. On Sep-06-17 at 13:10:05 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional info: You are welcome to come see the car after 12:00 noon on Friday, and between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Saturday. I'm in the hospital for procedures on Thursday, and unavailable Friday morning. If you come by in person, it is fully insured and licensed, can be driven, and we can even get it on a lift so you can look underneath. On Sep-08-17 at 21:23:27 PDT, seller added the following information: In relation to several questions: The AC was completely reworked by some previous owner - it blows cold. See last picture. There is no bondo that I can find, nor any rust. Front suspension and CV joints redone. Engine appears rebuilt - gaskets and seals show as recent. Battery is 2017 date code. Tires (including spare) are 2007 or 2008 date codes but with very few miles - should probably be replaced soon. Trans appears rebuilt. As of this writing it has 113,062 miles on it. Yes - it looks just like in the pictures, except perhaps with a little bit of dust on it. I believe, but don't know, that this was car of someone who was building it right - and which was partially apart when it became an estate sale item. The estate buyer hastily reassembled it - and did not quite do it justice. It needs adjustment of fenders, hood, and trim - inside and out, the exhaust put back to single and correct, and all the small items I talked about in the initial description above. Current issue of the Old Cars Price guide by their description rates this a #3 car - and values it at $13,950. Hagerty by their description rates this as a #3 car also, and values it at $15,000. It certainly has that much money in the drive train. Check my feedback. I accurately represent all my sales.
