1982 Honda FT500

1982 Honda FT 500 Ascot 13K miles with a clean PA title. I recently got this, went over it, and it now runs well--maybe a little too well that it could get me in trouble. It was not in bad shape and had been stored indoors. Fork seals were leaking so the seals and dust covers were replaced along with cleaning the tubes and new fork oil. Brake pads are good all around, flushed the brake lines, now has DOT 4 synthetic brake fluid front and rear and resulted in good, reliable brakes. New battery, cleaned and lubed the starter drive. Over the years the exhaust system was replaced with a Supertrapp system. The carb is an aftermarket Mikuni with a K&N filter. The carb main jet was correct but the low and mid range needed some tuning. Now it starts easily, idles well, and accelerates briskly. The pipe is louder than I like even after taking some plates out but it is what it is. The handle bars had been replaced with shorter sort of clubman style bars that caused some of the controls to be shifted around but it actually feels good riding. Everything works, electrical system is charging correctly, lights work, turn signals, horn, etc. Tires are a dual purpose type with good tread and I rebalanced the front. The seat is in good shape for its age. The only negative I noticed was the typical oil weeping from a copper washer seal and one of the tabs is broken on a side cover. Please email any questions.
