NO RESERVE AUCTION 1997 BMW 318ti RWD two door w/ 5sp manual transmission hatchback- 100% original and unmolested besides the aftermarket radio. This was my cousins car who bought it in 2010 with 118K miles...shes used it to commute to school in Virginia primarily and just drove it back from there recently. She no longer has use for it living in the city and asked me to help her sell it (I sold my similar E36 BMW on ebay a couple years ago). This car was a Virginia car its entire life and was not exposed to the bad Northeast winters with road salt typical here in PA. I took a pic of the undercarriage showing how it does not have any apparent rust and looks clean. I could not find any rust on the car which I'm sure is pretty rare for a car of this age in this area. Diamond Black Metallic with light grey leather interior. Rare 5 sp manual slicktop ti...hard to find. Overall Condition Exterior - Original 20 year old black paint as far as I can tell. Don't expect perfection...shines up nice but does have nicks and a few dings here and there as would be expected. Interior - The interior has held up fairly well. Crack free dash and fairly clean cloth interior. The door panels have the typical E36 issues (need some tabs replaced and are pulling off in a couple spots). Mechanical - I feel the car could be driven away long distance today with no issues. Please do any pre-purchase inspections prior to auctions end (I cannot guarantee anything). The motor and transmission feel strong. I drove the car around and it tracks straight, tires are good, suspension feels tight, and brakes work fine. The car does not smoke, no apparent leaks on the driveway, and does not overheat. The exhaust is quiet as it should be and the idle is stable. The clutch feels like it catches a little high so that could use an adjustment. Other than that, I have no clue what upcoming maintenance needs to be done. Consider this an as-is auction where you assume that risk or inspect prior. Keep in mind it is 20 years old with close to 195K miles so it is not a new car. The car feels solid but I recommend giving it a once over after purchasing as I do not have the maintenance history. The check engine is not currently lit but she said it comes on and goes off time to time (code scanned at Autozone was for secondary air system or something...there is a torn taped intake boot in the engine bay which is a likely culprit). Both power windows work (rear windows are pop out style). Radio and sound system sound great. This 318ti in my garage in Royersford, PA (30 miles outside Philadelphia, PA). Inspections are encouraged and welcomed PRIOR to the close of the auction/sale. All sales are final after the auction though. It has a clear & clean VA title with current inspection until Sept 1st. Buyer responsible for shipping, although I’m happy to assist...uship.com is a good site for that. Please email me with any questions prior to bidding.
