Vehicle Detail

Please excuse my long winded description, but I’d much rather you know EXACTLY what you’re getting into buying this car versus coming into a surprise of some sort! If you want a very nice, very rare, and very well kept car - keep reading. If not, go on and look for someone’s 4 word description and $2000 R car. This isn’t it. This is one of 1931 R models that made it to the states in 2004. One of very few in Red with a 6 speed manual transmission! But if you’re reading this ad, you probably already know why you clicked on here. I’ve got 50 pictures of this up here for a reason, please look at them all! This is one of the best road cars that I’ve ever had the pleasure of driving. I purchased this car a few months ago for a trip to Florida. My week was planned out with auctions all over the state. I purchased the car in GA and have been driving it for the past 3000 miles. I can tell you that it is one of the most well behaved, well mannered vehicles that I have driven. It is also the most comfortable set of seats that I’ve had. I bought the car outside of Atlanta, drove it to Orlando, down the west coast of Florida, back to Orlando, and back to Indianapolis. 2200 miles in a week and it didn’t as much as miss a beat. No check engine lights, no warnings, no burned oil, no leaks, COLD air, and every button worked. I cannot say enough about this thing. The guy that I bought the car off of was very particular about it, and it shows. It went to his personal foreign car service center for everything from headlights to timing belt. The belt was done in January of this year at 110k. He quit driving the car in January because his company bought him something to drive - so this sat for a few months until I was lucky enough to grab it. I took it straight to Discount tire and put a new set of tires on it and had them look over what they could - and took off on my journey. When I say this car is all there - I mean it. No excuses, it’s ready to roll. During my trip I had an average of 27.1MPG and had a few good sprints into the triple digits when the blue lights weren’t looking. It doesn’t vibrate, doesn’t shake, and is dead quiet at 100mph. I ran 92-93 octane the entire trip and it performed flawlessly. Now, after all of my rambling let me tell you about the car. The body is dead straight as an arrow. All of the body seams are perfect, the paint is great and all appears original except the lower portion of the rear bumper which looks like it’s been fixed at some point. Nothing bad, but the filler panel on the passenger side looks like it may have been fixed - see pics. There’s a couple of very small spots in the clear that peeled up (also in pics) but are hard to pick out and absolutely no reason to fix, the car looks great and you have to be looking very close to notice anything. I plasti-dipped the factory Pegasus wheels in dark metallic titanium, the factory silver is underneath and in good shape. You can peel it off like a band-aid at any time. They had a little curb rash on them, but nothing bad. The wing over the rear window has been plastic-dipped as well. The clear had peeled up on it and it looks much better dark anyways. No real dents or dings anywhere that I can see or the camera will pick up, and other than a few little rock chips I tried to get pics of - hardly a scratch. The interior is just as nice as the outside of the car. The seats have been well taken care of and are Gobi Sand. There’s some stress marks, but ZERO tears or cracks that I can find and they sit well. It is not a smoker car, and doesn’t appear to ever have been one. It smells just like a good Volvo should. The carpets are clean, the headliner is clean, and the dash and door panels are clean and in great shape. There’s one small cover missing up by the mesh vents on the top top the dash (see pics) like every other Volvo of this vintage I’ve had. Probably a $5 part, I just never worried about it. All of the interior lights work, both power outlets work, the console lids are in great shape, and the only actual “wear” i can find is the gearshift knob isn’t as black of leather as it was when it was new. The air is ice cold, the heat is hot, and all of the power options work fine. Mechanically the car has been 100% for me. Anything the car needed, it got. The previous owner even took it in right before my trip and had a couple of light bulbs and wiper blades replaced. He couldn't find his “stack” of receipts for it but assured me it had been serviced to the nines. Judging from looking at the car and driving it, it had to be true. He said he’d send me the receipts but I have yet to see them. I had my personal mechanic pull the cover to take a peek at the timing belt and said it, the tensioner, idler, and water pump all looked brand new and were still shiny. I can give you his phone number if it makes you feel better - but I can say with assurance that it has been done. There’s a cont-belt sticker on the computer box under the hood as well showing it was done at 110k in January. Suspension and steering are both nice and tight and don’t make any weird noises or rattles. Even the sport suspension settings work - if you value your tooth fillings, keep it out of advanced mode. The clutch feels great and bites right in the center of the pedal travel. No jumping, no jerking, no slipping, and no gear crunches between gear changes. The AWD system seems to work well too - I’ve had the power on strong in the rain and as soon as the front tires slip, it kicks, hooks, and goes. The car drives straight, stops straight, doesn’t bounce all over the road, and is very well mannered. It’s got a brand new set (2700 miles on them) of tires from discount tire with warranty and is ready to roll. When I get the chance to drive a car for this long, I’m very picky and get to pick on the little goofy things that a car acquires over the years. This one has a very short list, but I’d like to pass them on to whoever winds up with this masterpiece so there’s absolutely no surprises. The tape player does NOT like tape adapters for the iPod - it just kicks them back out. The volume knob on the radio sometimes, always at the worst time at a drive-through, turns up the volume when you’re trying to go down and vice versa going down (every Volvo I’ve ever owned). I learned to use the buttons on the steering wheel to avoid annoyance. It’s got a few little clear coat spots that could be touched up (all in pics). Also, slowing down from highway speeds you can feel some pulse in the wheel from the front rotors. If someone hit the buy it now, I’d be happy to buy a full set of rotors and pads and include them in the sale, but they’re really not bad enough to worry about for at least a year. The car stops straight, hard, and fast with no pull…but the hint of a vibration is there. The only other thing that I can pick it for is it says “service alarm system” or something of the effect about 1 out of every 10 times you unlock it and get in it. I’ve run the computer system through it and has ZERO codes - so I have no idea what that’s about. The message goes away within a minute and I don’t see it for days. None of these things are pressing issues, or anything that requires attention - but if you’re wanting a 100% perfect car that’s 13 years old, these are the things that you can expect. There are very few of these cars around, and they’re getting very hard to come by in this good of shape. This car has ZERO rust, a great carfax history, and came from the south. I have personally driven this car over 3000 miles and would safely say I would drive it anywhere in the country and would put my wife in it for any trip. I am normally a truck guy, but this is one of the best cars I’ve driven in a long time and would do it again in a heartbeat. This is a no disappointments kind of car. If you’re looking for one of these, there’s not a better one around, I’m fairly certain of it. Don’t miss out if this is what you’re looking for. You can ship this one home, but if you can - fly in and drive it home…10 mins in and you’ll know why. It’s not perfect, but it’s a damn nice old car that deserves someone that will appreciate it. I do have all manuals and both keys for the car as well. Both fobs work. If you have ANY questions, feel free to call me 317-260-9235. I have included 50 ACTUAL non-photoshopped pictures of the car in my front yard. Please look closely and ask as many questions as you need to so you’re comfortable. :)
