It was purchased in North Carolina and that state, for reasons unknown to me, put a notation on the title stating that it was exempt from requiring a mileage statement or verification. When the vehicle was titled here in my home state of Virginia the DMV would not accept the mileage as shown on the NC title and thus marked it as unknown or not actual. Apparently in NC automobiles over ten years of age are mileage exempt.
