Vehicle Detail

1953 Chevy short bed half ton barn find truck. I pulled this truck out of a barn last year. The body on this 1953 is one of the best I've seen as far as rust is concerned. There is almost no visible rust through anywhere on the body, only surface rust. The only panel that has visible rust through is the piece on the front of the bed by the cab and you really have to look hard to see it. The cab corners and kick panel area are extremely nice. It still has the original floor pans. All I had to do was clean them up and coat them with por-15. It does have various dents, dings, scratches, surface rust, chipped paint and a few cracks in various places. As near as I can tell the blue paint is the original paint applied by General Motors, this truck has not been touched up in any way. All of the patina was earned on a farm in Western Kansas. I do have an original rear bumper for the truck however, I do not have the brackets. The original bed wood has been cover by a sheet of steel many years ago. I was using the truck to haul grass clippings so I never got around to removing the steel floor and installing a new wood one. The interior on this 53 is very presentable. I have installed a new factory headliner, new door panels a new floor mat, new seat covers, new windlace and fixed the two roll up windows with new glass. The gauges all work with the exception of the original water temp gauge. It has an aftermarket temp gauge under the dash that was already there and it works fine. It runs 30 pounds of oil pressure and the generator is charging so this truck is ready to drive. Mechanically everything is in good condition. Here are a few things I have done to the truck since pulling it out of the barn. New brake shoes New brake drums Rebuilt the wheel cylinders Installed a new master cylinder New brake hoses A new water pump New spark plugs New points New Condenser New radiator hosesNew valve cover gasketNew side cover gasketNew taillightsNew headlightsNew ignition switchNew brake switchNew highbeam switch I was told the engine was rebuilt 1,000 miles before it was parked in 1996. I power washed the engine and installed a new valve cover and side cover gasket. I installed a new 6 volt battery and replaced the wiring and switches as needed. It runs and drives fine, the only thing I noticed is a vibration when decelerating in gear at higher speeds but this did not bother me so I didn't have it fixed. I have driven it over 100 miles since getting it running and it has not missed a beat. It just had the oil and coolant changed so it is ready to drive. I didn't rebuild any of the suspension but it all looks decent and the truck drives nice. The tires are decent and it has new GM rally style wheels. I am selling the truck to finance my sons 67 short bed truck build. I don't need to sell it and it will be hard to find another one in this condition but I want to get his truck done in time for his senior pictures. For an honest description give me a call. I do have a video of the truck but will only send it to you if you call me and discuss it in person. Bidders with zero/negative/less then ten feedback must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid/bids. This truck is sold in as is condition with no warranty. Only bid to win if you can pay for this truck, (clear it with your wife before bidding guys!) wire transfer or cash is the preferred payment as it is the quickest and safest method of payment for both the buyer and the seller. If I do not hear from the winning bidder by phone within 24 hours after the auction ends I will assume that you are a non-paying bidder and the truck with go elsewhere. Thanks for understanding and good luck bidding. If you are the winner of this auction or have any questions about this truck please call me at:785-623-9308 Oh, one last thing. This pickup's name is Raymond. On May-25-17 at 10:54:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had lots of texts and calls. This is an original truck that has not been restored. It leaks oil when you park it after driving it and I didn't look. There is a coat of oil on the rearend and the transmission so they too leak. It has wind noise, rattles, squeaks, scratches, dents, ..........it is an old truck. It has not run hot on me. It does not have blinkers. It does not have seat belts. I don't make any claims to how long it will run trouble free . It starts easy, stops good, drives decent and is lots of fun but it is not perfect.
