2004 Dodge Durango 5.7L Limited. 104,623 miles. I have owned this truck for 11 years. Oil was changed faithfully every 3,000 miles and the truck was well maintained. Passed NH State Inspection in January 2017. In April I went to start the truck in the morning and the truck would not start. The starter turned and motor tried to start but the truck would not start. Found a Mechanic to come over to see if it was a quick fix to do in the driveway to avoid a tow fee. Mechanic worked on the truck trying to start it and looking under the hood for about an hour. Mechanic informed me that the Battery had died while trouble shooting and that Fuel Pump and Starter needed to be replaced as well as the truck should have a tune-up. I had the battery charged. Once the battery was charged I tried to start the truck and nothing only display lights on dash. Now the starter isn’t working. Checked fuse and fuse was good. The truck was trying to start before Mechanic looked at it. Called around to a few Mechanic Shops and was quoted around $1500. including tow for work to be done based on what other mechanic had stated. “I took a loss of $750. with first Mechanic, unreliable person“. No sound upon start only dash lights when turning ignition. Checked all Electrical components “ Light, Blinkers, Stereo, DVD, Alarm system, Fan, Power seats, Wipers and everything power related” It all works. The bottom line is I was going to trade this truck in this year for money off a newer car. Trucks book value on a Trade is $2,000. to $4,500. Dealers are always try to “Low Ball You“ on a trade. I am not going to repair this truck to trade and lose money or break even. Dealers Book Value on a sale for this Truck is $4,500. to $6500.. Same truck big mark up. The truck is being sold As Is. No returns. I am not 100% sure why it will not start. Only what first Mechanic stated and the starter isn’t working at this time. What is a known fact: 1. The truck has 104,623 miles on it. 2. Was well maintained for the 11 years I owned. 3. For the past few years not more then 4,000 miles a year. "History report confirms". 4. All the Electric is working.
