Let me tell you about my 2003 Ford Excursion 4X4 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel with Eddie Bauer trim, though I think that the pictures below and the youtube video do a better job than I could ever do. I drive this Excursion every day and I take great pride in my vehicles. Here’s some more information. This Excursion started it’s life in Florida and has never left. Never seen the harsh northern winter roads. Delivered to the original owner in Bradenton Florida it then moved on to Tampa Florida, South Florida then me in Central Florida. As you can clearly see, it has been maintained to the highest standards, and I have taken it quite a few steps further. I love Ford Diesels, actually only the 7.3 Powerstrokes. When I bought this Excursion I wanted the best I could find, and scoured all the sites for months looking, Florida, Texas AZ and Cali. I would not accept a northern Excursion. As luck would have it I found it in my own backyard less than 50 miles away. Guy put it up and I bought it within the hour. Now I am a very anal person when it comes to maintenance. Not only I do what is required religiously, but go above and beyond and most of the time get carried away. I call it “mission creep”, I will detail it below as you will see. Lets start with the highlights Exterior 2003 Excursion Eddie Bauer Model2005-07 front end, painted to match2016 F250 20’ wheels and tires from a brand new takeoff. Have about 6000 miles on them, 90% tread left2016 exterior mirrors2016 Rear BumperF250 springs all around, 3.5-4” liftOriginal paint with the exception of the hood. I was only going to change the headlights and grill to update the front end, but the bumper had a minor ding from an old accident as reported in the car fax from 2006, since I was going to repaint the bumper I decided to do the complete 2005-1007 update with new front bumper, grill, headlights, fog lights emblems etc. I am sure you will agree it make it look outstanding. I did add the old bumper pic below. You can see on the left side of the image the slight ding in the old bumper. Interior New Texas Seat Shop front 100% leather seats/armrests with new drivers side foam bottomWeathertech front floor inserts and husky liner rear seat and rear compartment throughoutDouble Din head unit Android with backup and front camera, bluetooth, DVD, remote mic, tons more.2-500 watt JL amps under rear seat with speakers. No sub installed, wired and ready to go. The from drivers seat was slightly worn. It could have been just reduced but not for me. Called up the Seat Hop in Texas and ordered the complete upper and lower 100% leather new replacements. While I had it out I had the lower foam drivers side bottom replaced for extra support. Also did the armrests. The rest of the interior is original and awesome. Carpet has always been protected with mats or weathertechs. Not so, just fully serviced and front seal replaced.Needed a u-joint as I was noticing some vibration. Rather than replace them, just ordered a new Carolina driveshaft.Here’s where the mission creep really kicks in. I was only going to replace the turbo impeller as I noticed it had a little huge while towing. Well I kinda overdid it. As you had to take the turbo out, I just decided to do it all while it was apart. Did the puppies need to be replaced? No, they were in good condition. Other than changing ALL the fluids, everyone of them, the rest was just more mission creep. Front End New ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link etc.New front bearing hubsNew esof hubsNew sealsAlso 5100 dual bilstiens steering kit More mission creep. Started with the esof hubs, decided while I had it apart to do the wheels hubs, seals, tie rod ends etc. Previous owner had already just done the ball joints. Other items Tinted the front windows to match the rears as well as tinted the windshield Added a T3 brake controllerOne backup sensor went out, just replaced all of them.T6 6 position chip. I run it in tow only for fuel mileage. Get 18-19 highway, 14-15 towing my 10K trailer, 16-17.5 in town, hand calculated.Added a rear sway bar On the car fax it shows that the trans was replaced at 146K, as the shop is local I went over to them to check. Not so, just serviced and front seal replaced.I am sure I forgot to add something to the list. Bottom line, the things I did to the Excursion were not necessarily needed, but I not only believe in maintenance, I like to do PREVENTATIVE maintenance. I want my vehicles to be super nice looking and never have a problem out on the road while myself or my family is driving. This Excursion has been pretty flawless. I have owned it for about 2 years, time for something different. You , the next owner can fly in from anywhere and drive it home safely and confidently.
