Vehicle Detail
I purchased this Porsche in 2009, and shortly after, ordered the COA. This 912 is sporting a period correct 4 speed transaxle coupled to a period correct rebuilt motor (Number*4096212*). The matching number 5 speed comes with the sale of the car. The car underwent a complete restoration where everything was removed from the car, and either restored, purchased new, or located from used part houses. Every single part was gone through with the exception of the engine which was rebuilt prior to my purchase. The car is rust free and runs excellent in all regards! See for yourself in this video I made last weekend linked below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UX4koLwRZE The odometer is showing 36613 miles. The engine has less than 4000 miles on it since being rebuilt. The underside and inside compartment were painted with POR 15, then epoxy primered and sealed prior to painting with DCC Concept single stage paint matched to the underside of the sunroof, color sanded and buffed prior to installation of parts. The entire car was painted on my 40th birthday in the summer of 2012, including every surface a paint gun could spray, including the top and bottom of the floor pans. Please see the blog link at the bottom and go to the end of the photos for restoration images. After painting, the underside, engine compartment and trunk were undercoated using Wurth products for added protection against the elements. The gas tank was boiled out, sealed, powder coated and undercoated from the rim down in a light gray to match the tank. The chrome went to Escondido Plating for a high quality triple plating. The entire suspension, steering, and sheet metal brake parts were blasted and powder coated in satin black. The inside of the cabin received Dynamat sound proofing with a second layer of sound proofing with a black foam finish over the Dynamat. The original sound proofing fabrics were laid down as well along the rear inner quarter panels and up by the sunroof. Speaker wires were run prior to installing salt and pepper felt carpeting. The interior went to Thomas Auto Trim in San Diego for his professional touch. All new wheel bearings all the way around, 2 new axles, 4 new disk hubs, all new hard and soft brake lines including a new master cylinder were installed for a total brake job and drive line including all new pads and the original calipers being rebuilt and painted with silver high heat caliper paint. The pedal assembly was powder coated and rebushed too. The original Solex Carbs were replaced for a set that was found from a lengthy search. The fellow had kept them in a shoebox in his closet for nearly 30 years, waiting for the right vehicle. Needless to say, they are like new, stay well tuned and do not require any attention. The correct Bosche 022 distributor is installed with an electronic ignition for trouble free firing. The original Fram style oil filter is installed as well as a Precision Matters Full Flow Oil Filter for double the protection. The combination gauge was sent off to Hollywood Speedo to be rebuilt with a matched temperature sensor. This car runs super cool! The suspension bushings were purchased from Elephant Racing, so every part of the suspension was gone through. The tires are new Yokohamas. A new Talbot mirror was purchased and installed to match the option list on the COA. The original windshield was replaced with a new one, along with every piece of weather stripping. The vintage Blaupunkt is installed in the dash and plays through your iPhone or other 3.5mm jack. The owner's manual, a jack, set of 4 original steel wheels with tires and hubcaps, plus the original 5 speed and it's 5 speed shifter, clear H4 headlight lenses, and rain tray all go with the car if desired. I also have a stack of receipts over 2 inches tall documenting everything since my purchase as well as some from the previous owner showing no expense spared on bringing this classic back to its original glory. More details include restored heat control valves, with new heater cables installed, as well as new flame retardant heater tubes. The sunroof has new cables, new slides, as well as a new drive shaft and of course seals and rubber drain tubes. The fuchs are genuine Porsche with new aluminum lug nuts. All the lights, gauges, wipers, horn, locks, seat adjustments, windows, and sunroof work. Please see my operation video for details. I missed turning on the blinkers, but they work fine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93Ifq2cpkDE I've truly enjoyed owning this classic, nicknamed Happy, since that is how the car makes people feel when they see it. It get a ton of looks, and it a true joy to drive with the sunroof open or closed. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions 7604984308, or would like photos emailed to you. Countless hours went into this restoration and it shows. This truly is a rare find and opportunity to own a classic three gauge 912 with a sunroof all sorted and ready for years of pleasure. The title is clear, in my name. Please ask any questions or come view the car or facetime with me prior to placing your bid. If you place high bid, be prepared to have a $500 deposit to me within 24 hours of auction close, and the balance within 72 hours, otherwise, the car may be sold to the next bidder, or relisted. Payment shall be cash or bank wire transfer. I will assist with loading if you are in need of shipping, although shipping fees are at the buyer's expense.
