Chevrolet’s top-of-the-line 1958 Impala ushered in some important “firsts.” This was the first time the Impala name was used on a production model. It also introduced the W-series engine, from which the legendary 409 would descend, as well as the X-frame architecture, and four-coil spring suspension. Styling, almost universally admired among enthusiasts, discontinued the iconic vertical fin theme, a mid-‘50s rage.
This handsome Impala Sport Coupe is finished in stunning Onyx Black professionally applied without any imperfections. The body is straight as an arrow, and doesn't show a single wave or ripple in the long steel lines of this iconic car. The trim on the exterior of the car is very impressive, and shows beautifully. The exterior emblems, door handles, mirrors, bumpers and grill are all in excellent shape. The matching fender skirts fit perfectly, and the factory continental kit is a must-have option for this car!
Inside is Chevrolet’s colorful Tri-Tone interior in red / black / white. The interior shows just as well as the exterior featuring near-perfect upholstry, dash, carpet and interior chrome. Just hop in and turn back time to when Detroit really put thought and passion into their cars!
The original engine starts perfectly and in a word "purrs". Not a hint of smoke out of the chrome-tip dual exhaust, or a sputter from the 4bbl carburetor. The engine compartment shows beautifully, and will make the new owner very proud to lift the hood at any car show.
The original automatic transmission shifts perfectly through the gears, and helps this classic Chevy float down the road. The power steering and power brakes operate smoothly, and also help with the enjoyable driving experience this iconic sled provides.
The underside of this car features a nice black undercoating, and shows cleanly without a speck of rust. All the suspension is original, and has been rebuilt to ensure this car handles properly.
