Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible Monza 900. Selling for my Father who has owned it for the last 15 years. He has not really drove the car that much. It's in great shape for being 54 years old. This car has a lot going for it. It's the first year for the convertible, it's an automatic transmission car, and has a 6 cylinder engine making this beauty desirable. I do not know any history of the vehicle, but appears to of been re-painted. The good - runs and drives good, shifts good, looks great, newer top within the last 5 years. The bad - radio does not turn stations, drivers quarter glass is cracked, leaks oil, some weather stripping is old, and has spark knock? I asked my Dad about the knock and he said it's made that noise since he bought it. I googled the knock and oil usage and sounds like they are characteristics of these cars. I drove the car 120 miles round trip to a car show and it rode and drove great. There is an extra steering column that is in the front compartment, don't know the history behind that. Please ask any questions you may have and I will try and do my best to answer them. Thanks. On Aug-24-16 at 19:18:57 PDT, seller added the following information: 24-August update. Had a young man interested in the car as it's for sale locally too. He had it inspected by a local auto repair facility and said everything checked out great for a 54 year old car. Had it on the hoist and everything looks in real good shape for the age, undercarriage is good and appears to be original, wheel bearings are good, brakes are good, and even the emergency brake works. It's funny, because my father never used the emergency brake so it's good to know that works too. The shop said the knocks were from the exhaust, so great news there too! They also said there was an oil leak but did not specify where. This was a local repair facility that does good honest work, so I trust that they are telling the truth. The young man really wanted the car, but he said no insurance company would insure him as it would not be in a locked garage and there was no alarm on the vehicle. Anyway, thanks everyone who is watching this classic and congratulations to whoever wins the bid.
