A rare black on black car, this very well-equipped SLK features the SP1 Sport Package which includes Sportline Suspension, AMG Wheels, and AMG body kit. It is also equipped with a Xenon headlamps, heated seats, automatic transmission and of course, that iconic power folding hardtop. While many of these cars suffered at the hands of budget buyers, this example came from a local enthusiast who purchased the car from a Mercedes-Benz dealer where he kept the car regularly maintained and serviced. We have many records of the dealer maintenance including a fresh set of tires installed in October 2015. The car was used very sparingly by the last owner, who added just 12K miles over 7 years. As a result, it is very straight and clean with excellent road manners. The 2.3 liter Kompressor inline four runs beautifully, and the transmission shifts with typical Mercedes-Benz precision. There are no apparent leaks, and the underbody is very clean and straight, with no signs of accidents or rust. The original black paintwork presents well, with a few flaws here and there that are consistent with the mileage and age but overall, the car remains very attractive, particularly riding on optional AMG sportline wheels. The Carfax report confirms both the exceptional maintenance history as well as the accident-free status. There is one small area where the paint is bubbling slightly on the trunk lid, but the body is otherwise very solid and rust free. The original SLK is fast approaching classic status, and clean, well-maintained examples are a very rare find. This is a great way to get into a near-classic sports car that is fun, reliable and great looking.
