Vehicle Detail

1984 Jetta GLI. This car was extensively modded back in the day. The engine features a Eurospec cast head, adjustable cam gear and Schrick Oil Pan. The block is the original JH, unknown if it has been bored or is stock. Header to Techtonics 2 1/4" exhaust with Borla muffler. Low temp thermostat and fan. Transmission is the original 4K close ration 5 speed. It has been modified with a tall 5th gear for better highway cruising and a Neuspeed short shift kit. Suspension is Neuspeed Sport Springs with Koni Stuts/Shocks. Neuspeed sway bars and front stress bars. Brakes are 4 wheel discs. Scirocco 16V conversion with 10.1" and 8" rears. Correct booster and proportioning valves. The body is stock with Rabbit euro bumpers trimmed to fit. The original Jetta bumpers are included. Interior is stock with an Interspeed steering wheel. Also has a period dual post Sony AM/FM/Cassette. This car was found by a VW enthusiast in Boise, ID. It appeared to have been sitting for a long time and had no history. He tuned the car up and got it running properly. He kept it for a few years then passed it on to me 2 years ago. I bought it with the intent of taking all the aftermarket parts off for my '78 Rabbit project. After getting the car I decided it was to nice to part. I've used it as a daily driver last summer with no issues. I've been reluctant to let it go because it has so many great, hard to find parts. The purchase of another car and a boat have limited my space so it has to go. The car runs, drives, shifts and stops well. Besides the basic tune up a few years ago it has had no work done except an oil change. The car is usable as it but is a bit tired. Strut bearings are worn out, suspension is a bit soft, could use a brake flush, things like that. Odometer reads 236,235. I would guess it is correct but have no way to verify that. As to condition the photos should speak for themselves. The car was repainted in the original color at some point a long time ago. The paint is cooked, heavily oxidized with scratches and chips on every panel. I buffed the roof and trunk but it didn't help much. The front lower valence hit something and is a bit mangled. No other evidence of accident damage, but there are dings and small dents on all panels. Original trim is in place except for the lower door moldings. They are included but not on the car. No real rust on the car. Some surface rust on the front valence where it was hit. A bit of surface rust here and there underneath and where there are chips and scratches on the body. Floors are totally solid, trunk is solid, rockers/pinchwelds are solid. Strut towers, rain tray and front rails are all free of rust. Battery tray has some surface rust. Body seals are all dry. I replaced the windshield and seal. The original seal had completely deteriorated. Windshield channel was solid. Sunroof works and the action is nice and smooth. Interior is complete except the sunroof cover. Headliner is good, dash has no cracks. Driver seat outer bolsters are torn and the back seat tops came unstitched. Door panels are not cut. All trim and gauges are in place. Note that the heater control switch bracket is broken. The car originally had A/C and at some point it was removed, possible this piece was broken then. A correct, unbroken switch bracket is included with sale but will not be installed. Most if not all of the original A/C components are also included. Check out this video showing the car start up and a walk around showing condition. Note the video was shot in early April for a potential buyer. The seats shown late in the video turned out to be Scirocco seats. They would fit but wouldn't be correct for the car, they are included. The Fondmetal wheels shown after that will be included if bidding gets to $2000 as stated in the video. I planned to shoot a new video for this auction but my 6 year old found the video camera and it is no longer working... Check link below for over 100 photos of the car. Note some of the photos show the car with a different set of wheels. They are not included in the sale. here This is a no reserve auction. The car is sold as-is with no warranty. I have a clear MT title in my name. Buyer is responsible for shipping. $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end.
