Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE NO RESERVE!! 2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5L V6 Engine, Auto Transmission All-Wheel Drive, Alloy Wheels Looks Great Cold A/C Clear Title This car has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction before bidding. As is stated above, this is a no reserve auction for a 2002 Jaguar X-Type. This is a very sharp looking car, and would make an excellent daily driver that can handle all types of weather. This car has a 2.5L V6 engine that has plenty of power, an automatic transmission with a button for “sport mode,” and all-wheel drive for extra grip in poor weather conditions. The engine starts right up, does not make any unusual noises, does not overheat, and does not have blow-by. It does show a small amount of oil smoke from the exhaust when it is first started up, but that clears after a few seconds, and I have seen a very small puff of smoke if the accelerator is floored going down the road. The engine has plenty of power, and the car is great to drive. The transmission shifts normally through all of its gears. The brakes are strong. The suspension feels great – smooth on the highways, but firm and sporty on the curvy back roads. The main problem I have found with the car appears to be related to a vacuum leak. The check engine light is on, and the engine has a rough idle until it warms up. Occasionally the dash screen will say, “no cruise.” When this happens, the car will drive and accelerate normally at a slow pace, but if you try to floor it or accelerate quickly the rev-limiter kicks in and will not allow it. The light goes out after a few minutes and then the engine acts normally. I checked the internet and it seems that this is a common problem on these cars, and is usually due to a vacuum leak somewhere that allows “unmetered air” into the intake. Often times it is a simple fix. I had a look at the vacuum lines around the intake and could not see an obvious leak, so it’s going to take some close examination or possibly some trial and error replacement of hoses to fix the problem. I had Pepboys run a scan and multiple codes came up, but they told me that they all seemed to be related to the same problem – there were codes showing a lean air/fuel mixture on both banks (from un-metered air coming into the engine), and then a bunch of misfire codes that were probably related to the lean mixture. There were also codes for the O2 sensors. I think there may be a tiny coolant leak as well. I have not noticed the coolant level going down or any leaks / puddles, but occasionally when getting out of the car there is a faint smell of coolant at the front end like a small amount is evaporating off the engine. The car does not overheat, there is no coolant in the oil or the exhaust, and no oil in the coolant, so it is probably a tiny leak from one of the hoses or fittings on the engine or radiator. The exterior of this car is beautiful. The blue / silver paint looks amazing and really makes this car stand out. The design is beautiful. You could almost mistake it for the flagship XJ8 if it wasn’t for the smaller size. The body and the undercarriage are solid, with no evidence of rust. There is the odd chip or scrape that is to be expected on a car of this age, but otherwise the paint looks great. The 16” factory alloy wheels look great and the tires all have good tread. One of the wheels (right rear) has significant curb damage and has to be repaired (if possible) or replaced. The tire on that wheel may also need to be replaced. All of the exterior lights and the wipers work. This car also has “back-up sensors” that sound an alarm if you are getting close to an object when reversing. The Jaguar hood ornament is missing, but should be easy to replace. The grey interior of this car is in quite good shape. There are some creases in the leather seats, but no cracks or tears. The carpets are clean. The dash and door panels are clean and un-cracked, though the driver’s door panel is loose at the bottom and there are some cracks on the center armrest. This Jag is loaded with power options that all work. It has power locks, power windows, power seats, power mirrors, a power sunroof and cruise control. The A/C blows cold and the heater blows hot. It has its factory radio and CD player. There are driver and passenger airbags for safety. The headliner is sagging a little bit in the back, but overall the interior is in good shape. This Jaguar would make a great daily driver for someone. It looks good, drives well, and is affordable. This car is not perfect, it has a few things that need to be fixed, but I think that overall it is a good car. I have listed all of the faults that I have found, but there could be others. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the car in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this car, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule.
