This jeep has got a couple issues, but has been my "Home Depot" vehicle for years and runs great. 138,862 miles. Pros: Engine is a 5.2L V8, and runs great.Body is fine, tires fine.Cons: The clutch plates inside the transmission are starting to come apart. This needs to be addressed at some point. The transmission shifts back and forth between first and second when going uphill. A transmission shop (or someone with a garage) can fix this, or you can just buy a used transmission from a junkyard and replace it.Transfer case got stuck in 4 wheel drive a number of years ago (common problem with 1998) so I took the front drive shaft off. Doesn't affect city driving at all.Back hatch does not open, headliner starting falling so I removed it.$500. Fix the transmission and you've got a great beater truck that will run for a while! Must sell right away - moving out of state!
