UP FOR AUCTION AGAIN!!! The successful bidder failed to provide a deposit within the specified time frame. We have decided to give this another shot but with some additional information this time. Furthermore, since the last auction, this vehicle has visited a Volkswagen Specialist shop where it has received a full tune up, servicing, oil change, compression test and inspection, making it ready to hit the road just in time for summer road trips and camping!!! DescriptionThis is an original 1975 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Van. This vehicle was a Barn Find and rescued from a farm back in 2005. It was discovered with only 62,000 original miles but has since been on many fantastic road trips bringing the current total to just over 68,000 miles. We've tried as much as we possibly could to keep this van in the original condition in which it was found, However everything that was necessary to make it mechanically sound and safe for the road has been gone through. To prevent the fiberglass Pop-Top from deterioration, we decided it was necessary to have it refinished and brand new seals installed. This was professionally done in a restoration shop. The bumper and rims were done to match. The rest is almost entirely the way it was back in the 70's. Opening the doors of this thing is like opening a 40 year old time capsule and getting behind the wheel and going for a drive is like going back in time. If you ever dreamed of the chance to own a near mint factory original Volkswagen Westfalia Van, this is IT! Condition Body : The condition of the paint in the wheel wells and the underbody suggests that the odometer in this vehicle has not rolled over which confirms that this is a true survivor with only 68,051 miles. I have included pictures of the paint on the inside of each wheel and both frame rails to show just how clean the body of this van is. Aside from a few touch-ups on dents and chips over the years, all of the orange paint on the vehicle is completely factory original. This includes the entire inside, outside, and underbody. I am proud to say that NO evidence of rust or rust repair have ever been found Interior: Interior carpet is clean and upholstery is original orange plaid with new black-out curtains.Vehicle is tobacco smoke-free. The Pop-Top works perfectly and folds up and down with ease and latches firmly in both open and closed position. Mechanical: This vehicle has not been simply "quick-fixed" or "patched up" to make it run. It has been through an extensive and thorough mechanical overhaul during the period I have owned it. Almost every part of the mechanical of this vehicle has been gone through and either fixed or replaced to make the vehicle fully reliable and safe for daily use on the road. Included is a list of all the parts installed. New battery, ground cable, New air filter, New fuel injection relay, New head temperature sensor, fuel pressure regulator, upper injector seal, lower injector seal, New carrier mount, new exhaust gasket, New oil filter, New fan belt, muffler strap, New engine compartment seal, New condenser, New points and Points set screw, heater blower hose, spark plugs, spark plug wire set, distributor cap, rotor, valve cover gasket, vacuum fittings, New tires, New brakes, New muffler, New shocks, New bulbs in the taillights and signal lights, New fuses, New windshield, New pop top seals. Transmission has been serviced and fluid/seals replaced, New fuel filter, New fuel lines, New coil, The gas tank was even removed and steam cleaned to ensure the entire fuel system would function as it should. The 2.0L engine has been fully rebuilt and has less than 5000 miles on it to date. Valves and timing have been set. The compression test performed on the engine on May 12th, 2016 reads #1: 120 #2: 120 #3:120 #4: 110 which is excellent! Furthermore I am proud to state that all of the maintenance and mechanical work has been performed by the professional German Auto technicians at Bushmasters in Calgary, Alberta. If you have any further questions about the mechanical, feel free to contact me. Despite the remarkable state of this van, after 41 years there are some minor odds and ends that do not function like new. These include the sliding door only locking from the inside, the fuel gauge not working, etc. Pop-top is original and in good working condition, however some tears in the canvas have been patched and there has been some sun fading over the years. The van is in used condition therefore some defects are to be expected. Parking lot dents, scrapes, etc. Please see pictures. FeaturesAutomatic transmission (rare) In all the years I have owned this vehicle I have never come across another Van with an automatic transmission. My research indicates that this option is extremely rare and even more so when coupled with the larger 2.0 litre engine option as well. Westfalia Pop-top camper complete with Fridge and sink (some plumbing required) Original rear hatch bug screen and Interior lighting. Deluxe 8-track radio that works! Front mounted spare tire and Rear window defrost. Past HistoryThis vehicle was sold new in Calgary at South Center Volkswagen and has been mine since 2005.
