Vehicle Detail

This is a very nice 72 Blazer that had a frame off restoration back in the 90s. At that time a fuel injected 5.7 was installed from a mid 90s wrecked Suburban with supposedly only 5k miles on it . Everything was redone and rebuilt at this time I was told. The guy I got it from said his uncle had it built for his wife to drive by a guy named Marvin who owns Golden Gate pickups in Golden Colorado. He specializes in 67-72 Chevy pickups and blazers. He said she only drove it about 3000 miles and decided she would rather have a new car . So after that it pretty much sat around from what I understand until I purchased it a couple of years ago . I installed a 4 inch lift kit and new General Grabber 33x12;50 tires on it right after purchase. I also had a real nice custom built receiver hitch installed on it so I could pull my boat. I have driven it to Oklahoma and back to Colorado twice since I've owned it with out any problems. I did how ever take the two lanes because of the gear ratio . It seems to like 60 mph at 2500 rpm best . It could benefit from a 4spd auto swap for sure. Or a gear ratio change. Not sure what the current ratio is but I'm think must be 4:10s. The air-condition works well and kept me plenty cool even in hot humid Oklahoma. Everything works on the truck as far as I can tell. Gauges ,wipers ,heater, lights etc . The window felts and and all the rubbers appear to have been replaced at restoration and still look real nice. The windows roll up and down nice . The doors open and shut real nice . The back gate and window open and shut real nice . Everything appears to be in working order at this time . But as we all know with a old vehicle any thing can fail at any given moment, I do get a puff of smoke when I first start it in the morning when the engine is cold. But after its warm and you restart it its fine. I think maybe the valve seals may have hardened up from sitting un-driven all those years before I bought it. The speedo is off about 10 mph since I installed the taller tires . When the speedo says your going 50 your really going 60 . This seems to be the same at all speeds . If its says 20 your really going 30 etc . I verified this by driving by those little speed warning signs you see in some neighborhoods that flash and tell you how fast your going . A kit was installed that makes the fuel injection work. It even has a diagnostic plug and a check engine light. The Blazer drives nice and feels solid going down the road. I'm guessing that I have probable put about another 10 k miles on it since I've owned it the last couple years. The paint is still real decent after all these years but it does have a few minor scratches and a rock chip or two here and there. I have not found any rust that I can see. The interior is still real nice. The carpet has some faded spots where the sun shines in from the windows. But still real nice. Over all I think its probably one of nicer 72 blazers left. The color combo is awesome. People love it everywhere I go . I even had a person leave a note one time on the wiper just letting me know what a nice blazer I have.
