Vehicle Detail

1971 Volvo 142. I bought this car a couple years ago to make it into a race car. I planned on doing SCCA racing, as well as vintage class ice racing. At the time I bought it I had just been through a layoff of my job, so I had the time to work on this. The motor is locked up. I set to work to try to unfreeze the stuck B20 engine, but I could not get it freed up with everything I tried. I then bought another known good B20 that spins freely and was going to replace the engine, and then I was offered a new job, so I went back to work, and that was the end of my 142 Volvo race project..... Prior to my purchasing it, it had been sitting garaged since 1984. it has been outside for the last couple of years as I didn't have an indoor spot for it. The car has NO PAPERS with it. I bought it without any title or registration, and it is being sold Without any title or registration. These make awesome race cars. You may already know this, but if you are not familiar with these cars, look at some youtube videos of the Volvo 140 race cars. There are some good original parts on this car. The steering wheel is in good shape with only minor cracking. I saw the same steering wheel in much worse shape sell for over $200 recently on ebay. The dash is solid without any cracks I can find. the seats are in decent shape, but the interior is musty. There is some minor body work here and there, but for a Northeast car, this is about as solid as I have seen one of these old 140's. The windshield is cracked on the passengers side. It is an automatic trans. I was going to run that initially, as these are supposed to be decent tranny's, and then I planned to convert to a manual. The trunk lock had been replaced with a lock and plate. It was likely broken into at some point and replaced with this. I couldn't get it to open with the key, so I ground off the rivets, only to eventually find that it is an electric lock and works, and needed the battery connected to unlock... I unbolted the drive shaft when I bought it and zip tied it up. I towed it over 200 miles home on the old tires, and made it back ok. The locking gas cap in the pictures is not included. I promised that part to somebody and I will remove it before pickup. I can offer the B20 engine I purchased and had intended for this car to the buyer for an additional $300 if you wanted a B20 for it(it has the head, and is from a known working car, spins freely). Or if you want to buy just that B20 engine alone without this car, I would sell it for $400 I want the buyer to be happy with their purchase. I am selling this car AS-IS where is, without warranty or returns. Please ask any questions or come see, look, and inspect anything you wish to before purchasing. $200 non-refundable deposit due upon selecting buy-it-now. Must be picked up within 7 days of auctions close. Located in Clifton Park NY right off of exit 8a I-87.
