Vehicle Detail
1976 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Landau This car was purchased new by my parents in 1976. When my mother stopped driving (she was 91 years old at the time) she gave it to me. It has taken my parents and their family on vacations to Disneyland and Yellowstone Park and been the centerpiece for wedding photos. It is finally time to let someone else enjoy it. It has been well maintained since it was new and as far as I know needs nothing other than possibly a new set of tires. They still have good tread but have been on the car quite a while. There are nothing but OEM parts on the car, no modifications, no cut wires, no changes other than mentioned below. 58,424 miles on the odometer since new. 400 cubic inch small block engine. These engines were prone to overheat if the coolant level was not maintained and that is exactly what happened when my mom was about 88 years old. She kept driving, overheated the engine and cracked the block. The car was repaired at the dealer with a new short block so the engine really probably has about 10,000 miles in my estimation. Turbo 400 automatic transmission that has had the fluid changed about two years ago. Power Steering The power brake master cylinder started leaking a year ago so it has a new master cylinder, proportioning valve and fresh brake fluid. Fresh coolant as of last year. Air conditioning worked when my mom gave me the car but doesn’t now due to inactivity that probably caused it to lose some Freon. It probably needs charged up again to get it working. The car includes the original window sticker, manuals, jack and jacking instructions. As you can see in the photos the interior is beautiful and is in excellent condition and still smells like a new car inside. The car has a rust free Southern Idaho body. The chrome bumpers, grille, headlight trim, tail lights are straight in nice condition. There are small dings on the anodized aluminum trim around the wheel wells, the door edge guards and the lower rocker moulding. I bought new factory NOS door edge guards that are in the trunk ready to install. The lacquer paint is in good shape for the age of the car. There are some scratches that are shown in some close up photos. The car has never been wrecked or damaged but at one time there was a small crease on the front lower part of the driver’s quarter panel. I had it repaired and repainted and the paint match was a little darker. You can see this area in one of the photos. In most light it is not really noticeable but does show up at the angle and lighting condition in one photo so you could see it. I replaced the rear exhaust with dual mufflers and tail pipes with chrome tips while retaining the original front exhaust and cat so it will meet emission regulations. It sounds very mellow and sweet. Eight track stereo plus a selection of period correct tapes are included. Fresh Lube, Oil Filter with Mobile One Synthetic 10-30w For sale in lower 48 states only. Buyer is responsible for shipping. The car will be available for pick up at my shop in Meridian, Idaho Thanks for lookingOn Mar-11-16 at 08:10:26 PST, seller added the following information: Based on some questions I received here is more information on the car.The vinyl top and all the associated trim around it are in excellent condition.I didn't mention it in the original listing but this car has never been parked outside a day in its life. When my mom moved from the farm to a house without a garage she gave me the car and stopped driving rather than have it parked outside.I can see on the windshield where it looks like a chip was repaired a long time ago.It was a good repair but it is slightly visible if you look closely. There is some very fine pitting on the windshield as would be expected for a car with a windshield that has been in the car for a long time.I am not sure if it is the original windshield or if it was replaced at some time.Anyway it is in very good condition and does not have any damage or cracks. All the other glass looks great to me.I have used up my eBay allotment of photos and can not post any more to the listing. But if you ask me a question I can send up to five photos with the reply.I have additional photos of:Owners manual with clear plastic pouch, original window sticker, original factory build sheet, dealers copy of build sheet, maintenance sheet, warranty sheet, car cover.five photos of the engine compartmentUnderside frontUnderside rearTrunk
