Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am ws4 Gold on Gold Project. where do I start, car was bought 3 years ago from an owner in Connecticut who strictly garage kept the car, car was driven daily for a year after it was bought, and I sunk a lot of money into it, It is now being sold as a PROJECT. When the car was bought the body was rock solid including body undercarriage as well as trunk floor which is hard to come by in these east coast cars. Car is a 1979 Trans Am ws4 Gold on Gold, color option which came that way from the factory. Over the years someone replaced the once stock 4.9 liter motor with the better 6.6 Pontiac 400, (not olds), which put out more horsepower then the olds 403. car is an automatic, originally came with AC but the AC components are long gone as someone gutted the AC and put a delete plate instead, new owner can gladly reinstall AC if they desire as this was originally an AC car. Body I bought this car originally because of the rock solid body that it came with as well as a nice shiny paint job and it was indeed garage kept. In my opinion this body is still pretty solid. Someone hit the front end while I was parked somewhere smashing the bumper and there is a small dent in the fender as the picture show, car will need body work to fix these issues. I honestly would replace the front bumper as it was also chipping. There is a small rust spot starting on the passenger rear quarter (check Pics), undercarriage is still SOLID, the frame rails are SOLID and the floor pans are SOLID other then minor surface rust (check pics once again), the trunk floor pan is also SOLID, which is usually rare, one of the reasons I bought this car in the first place. Paint still shines very well but it showing minor bubbling here and there. passenger doors is hard to open and close will probably need a striker adjustment. Glass is my opinion good all around, rear defrost works. Wheels Wheels are in fair shape 2 or 3 of them shine real nice one of them is pitted, they are the better 15 x 8 snowflake wheels which at the time I believe were an option. Missing one center cap. Correct lugs are on wheels. Tires are bald and should be replaced Interior Interior is actually is great shape, seats have no rips carpets still looks good not much wear I think previous owner had it replaced console in good shape, headliner intact and in good shape, door panels have issues I would replace them, the drivers side arm rest is off the car as I was having trouble installing it. Dash is cracked there are 3 cracks going across the dash. Gauges speedo works although the reading is a little off, fuel works, oil works, temperature gauge I had working but the sending unit that connects to the block got messed up, gauge is fine sending unit should be replaced (1 wire), Tachometer does not work neither does the clock (as always lol) Engine Car runs ROUGH. and like any other trans am it packs power. I took off the exhaust manifolds and replaced them with headers, the headers leak from the block, because when I had a mechanic change the exhaust manifolds to headers the bolts broke in the block and they had to be heli coiled to make a seal, and of course they still leak, which is a problem, my opinion the heads should be removed and rebuilt or replaced. The transmission fluid has a leak, I believe from the speedometer cable, power steering has a leak I believe from the steering box which was replaced brand new. cars burns a little bit of oil. long story short this car has issues, a great idea would probably be to rebuild the motor or if you have one PERFECT drop it in!. transmission shifter needs to be fixed you have to hold it in the gear you want while driving it as sometimes it pops out of gear Car had a lot of brake work done to it 2 years ago I have the receipts everything in brake system is mostly new the peddle is currently a little soft, I believe its just some air in the lines NEW! and replaced - Decal Graphics From Phoenix Graphics installed the car correct for a gold trans am - Stereo Pioneer with speakers - Front license plate bracket - Master Cylinder - 2 Front brake rotors - 2 Front brake hoses - 2 Front brake calipers - 2 Rear Wheel cylinders - 2 Rear parking brake cables - 1 Rear drum brake bar - 2 Rear brake drums - 1 rear brake spring kit - 1 rear brake adjuster - ALL NEW STEEL BRAKE LINES - Driver door lock rod (replaced) - Battery Tray - Passenger Window Handle (replaced) - Windshield Washer Pump - Hooker Headers - Complete 3 piece oil dipstick (OEM, new) - Holley Carb - Timing Chain - Aluminum Water Pump - Snowflake Lugs - Battery - Starter Make no mistake this car is being sold as a Project for someone to restore, keep in mind that this is a 37 YEAR OLD car and is being SOLD AS IS, tried my best to honestly explain the vehicle, I have vested over 3500$ in it and I have the receipts., please do not bid if you are not serious about it, car is PRICED TO SELL. Great for anyone looking to restore or has the time and money to put into it. I simply dont have the time to fix this car up. My LOSS is your GAIN. Still kills me to sell this car as I would have liked to fix it up. These late model trans am have been really gaining a lot of attention. Watching Barrett Jackson the other day the number one selling car was a 1979 TRANS AM silver anniversary addition sold for a whopping 187,000$ car only had about 7 miles on it. and the day before watching Barrett Jackson a 1980 sold for 100,000$ which was another low mileage car. Long story short these cars have been really taking off lately, and they have never seem the money that they are seeing now. Am I saying this trans am is one of those absolutely NOT, but in my opinion the investment quality is definitely there, great for anyone who wants to get into a project, and I believe these Trans Am's dont show any signs of slowing down. Car is registered in the state of Vermont, Vermont does not issue titles for cars as old as this the registration serves as the title in that state (all clear). I reserve the right to end auction at any time, buyer is responsible for any shipping involved with this vehicle SOLD AS IS THANKS FOR LOOKING ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE TO ASK GOOD LUCK BIDDING, a 500$ non refundable deposit is due 72 hours after auction end. Car is not released until money is free and clear
