For sale is a 1958 Ford Thunderbird, the first year of the "square-birds." This Thunderbird runs and drives, and has had much of the mechanical work done. Entirely new brake system (master cylinder, lines, hose, wheel cylinders, shoes, drums, and hardware), new complete cooling system, fuel tank, fuel lines, and fuel pump, and mostly new interior. Seat foam and vinyl is new and was installed by a professional upholstery shop, the dash, console, and trim pieces have been freshly sprayed, and the carpet, headliner, rear door panels and kick panels are new. This car was originally colonial white (late 58's only) with a turquoise and white interior, and I have begun converting it back to that. Floors, sub-frame, and trunk floor are all solid, but the vehicle will need rockers, lower quarters, and a small front fender patch panel. The interior was totally removed and the floor pans were sandblasted to clean metal and coated with POR-15 and Dupont Colonial White paint. The trunk has been sandblasted to clean metal and painted as well. The 390 ci engine has been out of the car and detailed and ALL seals were replaced and it does not leak any oil. It runs strong, but does have an exhaust leak and a whine in the driveline. The transmission front main seal was replaced and the transmission shifts smoothly and does not leak fluid. Radiator was re-cored and all hoses and belts are new. Battery, some wiring, and windshield and door glass are new. Car came with rare factory in dash air conditioning, and comes with the hard to find fiberglass a/c box. This is a great project car that can be driven and enjoyed right away.
