1966 Ford Mustang “K” Code CoupeNo Reserve Auction(Buy It Now $35,900. Call Me Direct To End Auction) Factory Cruise-O-Matic Consistent & Documented Car Show Winner Complete Rotisserie Restoration Factory Well-Optioned Factory 9-Inch Rear End This is a true sleeper, an unassuming, rare muscle-car straight from the Sixties. Combining the power of the Shelby AC Cobra with the classic Pony Mustang styling, truly a wolf in sheep’s clothing!!! (Buy It Now $35,900. Call Me Direct To End Auction) It’s an award-winning 1966 Ford Mustang K-Code in Wimbledon White (Code-M) with Code-D2 Parchment blue interior and original bucket seats. It was originally a California car and it shows it. This is not just another ‘60s Pony car, it is powered by the now legendary K-Code 289 cubic-inch V8 with 271 horsepower (10:5:1 compression), and C4 Cruise-O-Matic (3 speed) transmission, the first year the automotive option was available. This is a classic that was extremely well-maintained and driven mostly to car shows, where it won a glass case full of trophies. The K-Code remained the hottest optional engine up through 1966. It’s been seen in major car magazines, too, because there just aren’t that many surviving K-Code Mustang coupes any longer, making it an exceptional long-term investment. Because it’s a K-Code let’s talk about performance: Here’s what a story in Mustang Illustrated said about it, “The engine was rebuilt to factory specifications and features a factory-style high performance cam, and solid valve lifters that replaced the old bumpstick. It inhales through a vintage Autolite 4100 four-barrel carb and intake manifold, while the dual-point conventional ignition system fires the combustibles within the iron high-performance cylinder head castings.” Moreover, it sports high flow exhaust manifolds with twin mufflers and tailpipes, the long block is finished in Ford Blue, and there are chromed rocker covers that spice up the engine bay. Best of all, it sports that coveted Ford 9-inch rear end (3.50 ring and pinion with optional limited slip)! It also features the setock floor-mounted T-handled shifter. It also was optioned with Ford’s Special Handling Package, meaning the coils and leafs had increased rates as well as larger diameter front and rear shocks for improved cornering and handling. VIN#6R07K187268 carries the engine “K” in its factory numbering. The “K” was first introduced by Ford in 1963 and the 289 HiPo made its way into the first Shelby AC Cobras and the Shelby GT350 Mustangs through 1967. This engine option was for pure performance. This K-Code retains the factory Deluxe steering wheel from the time. It rides on redline tires with factory correct 14-inch Styled Steel wheels and knock-off center hubs. This K-Code has original documentation as well as Mustang car show judging books, receipts for restoration work, and even the original Ford “owner card” that came with the car in 1966. The factory Wimbledon White paint is well-preserved and the body is free of any dents, dings, or other issues. All badging is correct and even the original Am radio works! The upholstery, carpeting, seat belts and other interior trim are in excellent condition. The original odometer reads 26548 miles. This sleeper is one powerful hand-full under throttle, and that’s the joy of owning and driving a real K-Code Mustang coupe. Call me personally. Marc 949-922-1006. About Factory Correct Cars offered by BlueChip Motorcars BlueChip Motorcars periodically offers classic cars that may be listed as Factory Correct, or Numbers Matching. Because there are many opinions about the term(s) used to describe these types of listings, allow us to explain how BlueChip Motorcars comes to that assessment. As you may know, depending on the source, the term “matching numbers, or factory correct,” may mean many things to many people. Purists might define it as a car with every possible window crank, dash knob or even every nut and bolt is original to the car from the time it left the production line. Although some classic cars do exist in that rare condition, most do not. The majority of classic cars on the market were at some point in their ownership, restored or repaired with NOS parts (new old stock) or licensed reproduction parts. Whenever the information is available to us about the use of these parts, BlueChip Motorcars will gladly pass it along to the potential buyer. BlueChip Motorcars uses the term Factory Correct or Numbers Matching only to distinguish a vehicle where the engine casting code corresponds with the VIN and Cowl Tag code. If these codes tell the same story about the car in question, BlueChip Motorcars then considers it to be a Factory Correct or Numbers Matching vehicle. However, unless otherwise stated, the transmission, rear end, and transmission may or may not be original to the car. BlueChip Motorcars welcomes all potential buyers to verify all the information with a qualified expert. We would be happy to email you all the numbers that are obtainable on any vehicle where the term Factory Correct or Matching Numbers is used.
