You are bidding on a original custom car from the early 70's, which was part of many well known fairs in Canada and Germany.This unique Hod Rod was created in the early70s together with other very extravagantvehicle creations by Gerry Nimz in Burlington Canada.Together with Carl Caspar, he is one of the most popular showcar-and moviecar-designer of the 70s and 80s. "The wine barrels Rod" was first introduced to the public at the "Canadian International Car Show" during the late 70s.It made headlines worldwide with great interest.In the following years the vehicle appeared several timesat various exhibitions and events in America.1981 it was shipped along with other extravagant vehicle creations,with Lufthansa German Airlines from Toronto toDusseldorf. Here it was presented on the "Jochen Rindt Show" (today's Essen Motor Show).The Rod was part of the newlyintroduced "Show Center", a presentation area forhistoric cars, design studies and very extravagant vehicles. Many famous people of the 80s like Mark Thatcherand Emerson Fittipaldi got themselves photographed with vehicles from the show center. After the show, a private investor bought many of these spectacular vehicles.So they all disappeared (and also the "the wine barrels Rod”) into a very exclusive and private collection.Now, after more than 30 years, caused by the death of the former buyer, some of these cars are back in the puplic and are now looking for a new challenge. This "wine barrels Rod"has a very stable custom box frame with mid-engine.The steel drivers cap sits on the front axle. It has the form of a wine barrel.The individually built oak loading area is equipped with 4 original oakWine barrels from the 60s. The drivers cap, like nearly everything at this car, was custom hand built.Even the drivers seat is formed out of an original Oak barrel. Inside the drivers cap they used the very popular high – Flokaticarpet. The windshield is about two square metersand consists of very stable Macrolon . The engine is a Chevy V8 from the late 60swith 4-way carburetors, eight individual velocity stacks and about 230hp.Furthermore, it has a TH350 automatic transmission from theearly 70s and big drag slicks fitted .
