Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel Cummins 24-Valve Turbo Diesel Engine Extended Cab, 4-Door, Long Bed Runs and Drives Well Clear Title Excellent Plow / Work Vehicle This truck is not historic and has not been MD State Inspected, so it can only be sold to a non-Maryland resident. Please read the description fully and ensure that you can meet the obligations of this auction BEFORE bidding. As is stated above, this is an auction for a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 with the Cummins turbo diesel engine. This thing is a beast! Like driving a tractor trailer down the road! This truck needs some TLC, but overall its condition appears to be fairly good for the age. This would be an excellent purchase for someone wanting a tough truck for plowing snow, contractor work, landscaper work, or someone that just has a large boat / race car / horse trailer that they need to tow occasionally. These Cummins turbo diesel engines are legendary for their power and reliability. This one runs great, has plenty of power, and does not overheat or smoke. The turbo spools normally. There is an oil leak that needs to be fixed. The oil leak is not so bad that you can't drive the truck at all, but it is enough to require attention before putting the truck into regular use or taking any long drives. The leak is on the driver's side, near the front of the engine. I have crawled over and under with a flashlight but can't see exactly where it is coming from because there is a lot of hardware in that area. It may need to be put on a lift, cleaned, and checked closely with a bright light to find the source. I have noticed that especially on cold days when you start the truck, the transmission is sluggish to engage. After about 5 minutes, when it has warmed up, it drives and shifts normally. The 4WD Hi and Lo work. While I have limited its use due to the oil leak, I did have to use the truck briefly in the recent blizzard and it made easy work of getting through the deep snow. The brakes are strong and the suspension is firm. Both batteries need to be replaced, as they will not hold a charge. I've had the truck on suburban streets and the highway. There is a little bit of extra lash in the steering, but otherwise it drove and handled well. The exterior is in average shape for the age. Underneath, the frame and cab mounts look solid. The body’s silver paint has some fading and scratches, and there is some rust at the bottoms of the doors, and on the driver’s side wheel arches – a common finding with these older Rams. There is also a dent on the rear door on the driver’s side, but other than that, the body is pretty straight. This truck has the 16” factory alloy wheels. The tires need to be replaced soon, as the tread is very low. There is a bed liner installed that is in good shape. There is also a heavy duty tow hitch with a plug for a trailer with electric brakes. The lights all work except that the front driver’s side blinker bulb is burnt out. The wipers work as well. The grey interior of this truck is in average condition for the age. The cloth seats are supportive and clean, but do have a few small holes in the fabric. The carpets are in good shape. The dash is clean too. This truck has power locks, power windows, power mirrors, power seats, and cruise control. It has dual airbags, and both a 12V power outlet and a cigar lighter. The radio works. There is currently no heat because the heater core has been bypassed, which probably means that it was leaking and needs to be replaced. The truck has A/C, but I can’t tell if it works or not in this cold weather. This would make a great work truck for someone, especially with snow. Get a plow, get some contracts from neighbors and local businesses, and start making some money. A local guy was charging $60 per driveway after the blizzard. This truck needs work, but overall it is not in bad shape, and these Cummins diesels are legendary for their power, reliability and longevity. Because of the bad batteries and the oil leak I have not been able to do any long-term assessment as a daily driver, only a few short drives. This truck is not new – new ones cost about $50k. It is not a perfect, turn-key vehicle. It is 14 years old and needs some work. I would recommend coming to have a look at the truck in person before you bid. I have described all of the faults that I have found. Please read the description thoroughly, examine all of the pictures and then come see / drive the truck in person before you decide to bid. I welcome bidders to come check out this truck, just please give me at least 24 hours notice that you want to come so that I can adjust my busy schedule. I am selling this truck on behalf of my father because he does not use the internet. This truck was traded in at his small, used car dealership. Since this truck is owned by a dealership, the buyer has the option of getting a 2-month temp tag, so that it is immediately road legal, however, I would not recommend driving it long distance until you get the oil leak fixed. I am open to offers made through Ebay in accordance with Ebay terms, and reserve the right to end the auction if an offer is accepted, however, I will not accept offers on the final day of the auction, or sell the truck out from under the winning bidder. The reserve is reasonable and based on a local offer that has already been made, but that we believe is below the value of the truck. This truck has not been through MD State Inspection so it cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. PLEASE READ: This truck has not been through MD State Inspection, so it cannot be sold to a Maryland resident. If you have a Maryland Driver’s License, you cannot buy this truck. Payment is to be made in CASH. Paypal and Bank Transfers are not cash, cash is physical, paper money. Buyer must have a valid drivers license to purchase. A $200 deposit is due directly at the end of the auction. This can be paid through Paypal. The remainder is to be paid in cash at the time of pick-up. This deposit is non-refundable. Bidders with zero or negative feedback must contact me prior to bidding – I will delete your bids otherwise. Do not send me angry emails when you bid without contacting me, and then find that I have deleted your bids and blocked you from further bidding on the auction. This truck is sold AS IS, with NO WARRANTY. Please examine the supersized photos, and contact me if you have any questions. Serious bidders are welcome to come see the truck, just give me notice ahead of time so I can adjust my schedule. Since this truck is being sold by a dealership, if on arrival for pick-up the buyer has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, a 2-month temp. tag can be supplied at an additional cost of $35. Payment is to be made in CASH at pick-up. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The truck must be picked up within 10 days of the end of the auction. Later pick-up will incur storage fees of $25 per day.
