Vehicle Detail
For $5,295 or best offer, I am selling my classic, fast, and peppy 2000 red BMW 323ci convertible with 5-speed manual transmission, 143K original miles, and a new battery. This car is a real attention getter, with a newly redone black interior and black cloth top that automatically opens or closes in 10 seconds with the touch of one button. Its original, nearly perfect red paint has a few, easily correctable paint chips. Every inch of this gem is mechanically sound. My mechanics are well known as among the best BMW techs anywhere. This was my first BMW convertible, and I quickly learned the real story of its convertible tops. which too often do not work automatically. When I bought this car, mine did not work either. I was told how to manually open and close the top, but it was quite difficult, especially when it suddenly and unexpectedly started raining. I have met many people who have very reluctantly given up on these cars because of the problems with the top, but I loved my Bimmer too much to do that. I paid consultation fees to two foreign-car shops to be told that one did not have the very expensive and hard-to-obtain specialty tool to fix it, and the other had no clue whatsoever about what to do. I was told that tops from 2000 on are hydraulic and almost impossible to figure out. I am Dutch and stubborn and loved this car, so I would not give up on my Bimmer. I ultimately found the right mechanics--super-genius BMW techs, they are--and paid them $2,000 to make the top truly automatic again and to ensure that this car was mechanically sound. Apparently, when fixed right, and this one has been, Bimmers will last virtually forever. The challenge is to find the people who can truly fix them the right way. This car has absolutely no mechanical issues. This gem runs fantastic.
