Vehicle Detail
Beautiful, original and rare 1975 Honda MR50 Elsinore! Okay you collectors out there, pay close attention, this won't last long. In 40 years of buying and collecting motorcycles, this is the nicest and most original antique/vintage bike I have ever run across. Which the exception of a few minor touch ups, this bike is completely original. Every nut and bolt is original Honda equipment. This bike has no more than 10 original hours on it (the oil was like new when I drained the side case) and it has sat in a garage, untouched for nearly 40 years. I've been restoring antiques motorcycles for over 40 years, so naturally, I completely disassembled the bike (with the exception of the engine), cleaned and lubricated every part and carefully put it back together. While doing this, I was impressed that the only screws that appear to have been touched were on the air cleaner. That means no one has worked on this bike but a professional. The tires, wheels, seat, plastic parts, engine and exhaust are all completely original. Nobody's ever touched them. There is a little garage rash from sitting in storage for the past 40 years but the bike appears to never have been dropped while being ridden (amazing for a kid's motorcycle). The brake and clutch handles are original and there is just a little worn rubber on the tips. Usually these are broken off on most bikes the first time it's dropped. After a very thorough inspection, I found no bent or broken parts anywhere on the bike. There are a few nicks on the tank, frame and engine. Matching paint filled most of the tiny scratches on the tank and some parts of the frame were painted with single stage enamel (which best blends with the original Honda frame paint). The engine side covers were cleaned and touched up as well. All decals are original with the exception of the one on the top of the tank, one on the swing arm and the number plate decal. Those have been replaced with expensive, exact factory duplicates. There are a few tiny rust spots (and I mean tiny - not noticeable unless you look close) on the wheels. The gas cap also has some more visible rust spots. A new NOS cap can be found on eBay for under $25. The tires are a bit worn, I believe, because this bike was almost exclusively ridden on the street, probably around the neighborhood. I found very little evidence of it ever being ridden off-road, aside from a little grass and dirt, probably from riding it around somebody's yard. The only thing this bike needs is an air filter element. It's cheap and also available on-line. While almost everything is original, I replaced one hand grip (I'm including the second one) and the clutch cable. I also replaced the fuel filter, spark plug and all fuel lines. I went to great lengths to keep this bike as original as possible. The bike runs great and starts first kick. It shifts though the gears smoothly like all Hondas. If you're looking for a fantastic bike to add to your collection, or if you're searching for the best possible present to put under the Christmas tree of a motorcycle nut, give me a call. It won't last long! This bike was purchased new in Florida (hence the great condition). Florida did not issue titles on off-road or competition motorcycles until 1984. So this bike is sold with bill of sale only. If you require a title for your state, there is a service that will provide a state-certified Florida title for around $275. I can direct you to this company. I am willing to help prepare the bike for shipping (crate, etc.), but buyer must pay all shipping charges. $2495 or best offer. Partial trades for vintage bikes considered.
