Vehicle Detail

1956 Ford F100 Long Bed Here is a project I took on several years back with many good intentions. Of course, other things took priority and now it’s back on eBay. The truck: Clear title, garaged the 9 years I’ve had it. I’ve tried to let the pictures tell the story. 1956 F100 long bed. A 4 x 8 sheet of plywood fits without cutting in the back. 223 ci 6 cyl engine, 3 speed manual on the column, with overdrive. (OD does not engage.. may be solenoid). Sheet metal for the most part intact. Some areas (drip rail above the windshield, running boards) have been filled with fiberglass by previous owner. The paint is just as I received it… schoolbus yellow, sprayed with abandon. Beneath that, I see what was originally a navy blue factory color. Brakes working, but will need attention. Wheels and tires.. you see them in the pictures. Electricals… for the most part work. Headlights, hi/lo, horn (new button). Heater fan ok, windshield wiper works. Battery holds a charge. I rebuilt the generator a while back. Odometer reads 72,882.5. Not sure if this is vehicle actual. Other things I’ve done: - rebuilt carb (some years ago), rebuilt fuel pump with new lines to carb. - installed oil bath air cleaner, new oil and filter, new exhaust from header back to muffler, with hangers. Nice bench seat replaced a Toyota seat the PO had installed. New side mirrors. I had intended to re-do the bed with oak. I’m including in the auction a set of white oak boards, cut to size, plus stainless steel running strips which will need the square holes cut. Some hardware… screws, nuts, washers, are included. There’s a fresh 4x8 ¾ ply sheet in the back at the moment, bolted in with 1x3 stringers. All painted with Thompson’s Weatherproofing. Odds and ends: From the pictures you will see a number of other items included in the auction. - Bumpers front and rear, with brackets.. The prev. owner had removed the front bumper and cut the frame mounting points. I’ve included a pair of mounts which can be welded in their place. - All metal side steps… to replace the fiberglass covered steps. Will need to be pounded out a bit. - New tail lamps, in the box. Front headlight trim and turn signal housings.. - new glove box insert Bottom line: This is a mobile truck.. The engine runs and I am able to drive the truck short distances around the yard. It’s a fixer-upper and will need work to put it on the road, but it’s definitely more than a parts car. I’m hoping an enthusiast takes this and returns it to original.
