Vehicle Detail
1987: America is ready for the introduction of the Acura brand Legend. The first Japanese sedan to implement a V6 engine, designed in partnership with Land Rover, and the first top of the line Luxury car to represent Japan as a competitor in the sport luxury business. As Acura #1, this is a rare opportunity to own a collectible piece of history. With precise braking, smooth shifting on the close ratio gear box, and sporty pickup (even when the car is full), the car blew the market out of the water and started a new era of Japanese luxury that other manufactures soon followed suit in. Ahead of it's time, it has features like four programmable presets on the full spectrum EQ, on dash Audio controls, brake light out indicators, cruise control, and four interior compartments within reach of the drivers seat (not including ashtrays). Modern amenities such as a wireless entry, wireless trunk release, and an alarm system make this car a convenient hybrid of classic and modern eras.Car with comes with two keys, two wireless fobs, jack, spare tire, lug wrench, brake arrest (similar to a Club, but for the brake pedal), and the original Acura OEM Shop Manual. Features: New Firestone Affinity tires with paperwork for free lifetime rotations from Firestone A/C, cruise control, power windows, power locks, auto driver window, power mirrors, dual antenna AM/FM Radio, Taper Player, Bluetooth mod in stock stereo to connect to your smartphone, 4 programmable preset full spectrum EQ, acoustic matting, stock floor mats, spare tire, jack, variable speed blower control, electronically controlled vents and ducting. back seat vents. Rare manual transmission for added sportiness. Leather shifter skirt. Brake light out indicators. Trunk lockout. Remote trunk release. Fog Lights. The interior, from the dash to the back seat, is nearly immaculate, a true testament to vintage Japanese luxury style. The seat pockets are tight, the *giant back speakers still deliver punch, and the front speakers have been replaced with modern high end Polk speakers. There is an extra set of rear speakers, for the unlikely event that the stock Pioneer's may go out one day. Also ahead of it's time are the car's lighting and convenience features. A light above the drivers feet and the ignition ring stay lit for 45 seconds after the driver's door is shut. When unlocked, the running lights and blinkers blink twice, and the overhead interior lights stay on for a minute. When locked, they blink once. The remote trunk release, with the option to lock out the trunk from the glovebox, is another testament to this cars ingenuity and foresight. The windows remain operational after the key is turned off and removed. until a door is opened. This car lived the majority of it's life in Lafayette, California. There is no rust on the body or chassis. It has been well maintained, protected from sun and weather, and cleaned regularly. Just passed smog. Paperwork included. Issues: none, this car is ready to go. 150 horses with five speeds deliver power with a quiet interior. This is the *true first generation Legend. This car was made top of the line in order to make an impression, as it was Acura's first car on the American market; from the metal door handles and trim, to the no slip floor mats. The quiet cloth interior is superb, and in near original condition. Everything in this car works, and it has more factory convenience lights than a modern day Lincoln. The glass headlights make this a classic, and they don't yellow (much to the envy of many Bay Area residents). Original blue plates. Cruise Control, A/C, and nice sound from the amazing stock stereo (with new Polk speakers up front) playing music from your smartphone via the bluetooth connection. Title is clean. You could drive this car from coast to coast after signing your name, it's ready to go anywhere. I take credit cards for your convenience. Current Maintenance: New Firestone tires.New gas shocks on hood (lifters).New Gabrielle tire shocks all around.BluetoothWireless locks and alarm.Re-wound original Denso alternator.Brake and Clutch return rubber dampers new from Acura.New Brake Light Switch Note: The walk around pictures show water on the bumper from the rain. The bumper is a consistent shade of dark gray, there is no splotching. Listed below is some of the praise for this vehicle. The car talk guys (when they both were still around), would always sing the praise of the first generation legend. "It was the first flagship sedan sold under the Acura nameplate, ...." "Honda introduced the model in Japan on October 22, 1985 to be their premier luxury model and in North America in 1986 as the top of the line model for its then-new Acura lineup. Sedan models came to the market first, powered by a 151 hp (113 kW) 2.5 LC25A V6... " "The Legend was the first production Honda vehicle to offer a V6 engine. The Legend was a result of a joint venture with Britain's Austin Rover Group called Project XX that started in November 1981 with the Austin Rover-Honda XX letter of intent signed by the two companies to replace the Rover SD1 and to provide a luxury vehicle for Honda. The Rover Company had a long established reputation as a luxury car in the United Kingdom and Europe, demonstrated with the Rover P6, and Honda wanted to introduce a luxury car for both domestic Japanese and the United States markets. The joint development produced the Legend and the corresponding British version was the Rover 800-series, which was badged under the Sterling brand in the United States and competed with the Legend." "The Legend won Car and Driver's Ten Best three years in a row and Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year for 1987. Manual-equipped models could sprint to 60 mph (97 km/h) in under 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 135 mph (217 km/h). Sedan models had a coefficient of drag of 0.32, while coupes were only 0.30."
