Vehicle Detail

I am re-listing my 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport since I couldn’t change any of the information on my previous listing. I bought this car in 2013 from a gentleman that parked it in 1974. I am the second owner. It only has 52,604 original miles. This is a great cruiser that is 85% complete. I have all of the parts to finish, but I have another car I’m trying to finish so I need to let this one go. This one has new paint, complete rebuild of the 425 dual quad nailhead & a complete rebuild of the Super Turbine 400 transmission. Power everything, cruise, factory air. What needs to be finished is the interior (I have all of the parts including new seat covers, foam etc). It also has odds and ends that need attention which I’ll do my best to list here; Interior, clamshell light unit needs to be rebuilt, some electrical love to make everything work better (lights, turn signals, windows, etc…), power steering leak, a/c needs to be rebuilt, turn signal lever, re-chrome wheels, speedo hooked up, radio, glove box door needs fixing, needs right front fender molding, shocks, window rubbers (except front and rear glass, those are new). I’m sure there are various other odds and ends but I’ve listed the larger items here. There have been questions about whether or not this car is a Gran Sport. It is. The Buick experts list the Gran Sport package as the following: ” The Gran Sport option (A-9) listed for $306.38 and included the 360 hp Super Wildcat dual 4 bbl engine, modified exhaust and transmission, positive traction differential with a 3.42 rear axle, ornamentation and wheel covers. A separate Ride and Handling package (H-2) with 15-1 steering ratio and heavy-duty suspension was available for an additional $37.63. The Gran Sport option did not include the chrome wheels, upgrade interior, ribbed rocker panel or any other accessory. The engine was a 425 ci (code LX) with two AFB carburetors (front #3645, rear #3925) and distributor (#1111058) with a different throttle curve.. The engine package included a large fully chromed twin snorkel air cleaner, with a metal monogram that read "Super Wildcat," finned aluminum valve covers with "BUICK" in raised letters. The package also required a different upper AC bracket (#1367411) to fit over the taller valve covers. The exhaust pipes were increased from 2" to 2 ¼ "inside diameter and had less turns to reduce backpressure. The modified transmission had a "BS" code on its ID plate. The 3.42 positive transmission was standard but other ratios from 2.78 up to 4.45 could be special ordered. The red letter and black background "Gran Sport" emblems were initially small 3" x1 ½." In mid December 1964 the emblems were changed to a larger 5 ¾" x1 5/16" size. The front emblems were mounted with studs onto the front fenders below the Riviera script. The rear emblem was mounted on the right side of the rear deck, below the Riviera script. When the larger emblem was used it was mounted on the left side of the rear deck. It should be noted that the 1965 was the only year in which Gran Sport was spelled out and the only one to use rear emblems. The glove box emblem also included "Gran Sport" next to the typical Riviera script. The wheel covers that came with the package were the standard cap with a large spinner attached to the center. The medallion used in the center of all 65 wheel covers and chrome wheels was black with silver "R" . This car has the 3.42 rear axle with positraction. It also has the chrome wheels, it came with the upgraded rare cloth & vinyl interior, it has the ribbed rocker moldings, twin snorkel air cleaner, glove box emblem, the super turbine transmission completely rebuilt, and the “R” center cap on the wheels. The engine block is an MW out of a 66 Gran Sport Riviera (MW94 C6103648 are the numbers listed on the block). No idea why, can’t ask anyone, no records available. Could have been a million reasons but it does have the twin 4bbl carbs and all of the other Gran Sport specific parts. Completely rebuilt. The Riviera experts state the following on the rivowners.com website “The only engine offered in '66 was the 425ci (code MW) with a single Quadrajet carburetor.” Looks like whoever owned this car damaged the original block, or had a warranty claim, or who knows. All I know is what I am listing here. Original color was “ZZ”. Silver Metallic. Now it is Sherwin Williams two stage Black Cherry Metallic. Listed for 15k which is significantly less than I have in it. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
