Reliable running bike. Cosmetically in fair to very good condition. Mechanically in excellent condition. I love this bike and have thoroughly enjoyed riding it to work and pleasure rides around the 4-corners area. (I put about 3k miles on it this summer) These Suzuki’s are unusual and tuned for everyday riding from the factory – completely different experience than the Kawasaki triples and the Yamaha RD bikes. One motorcycle magazine called it the ‘Gentleman’s 2-stroke’ . If you are not familiar with 2 cycle street bikes please do some research to make sure this is the right bike for you. The bike kick starts easily and there is no electric starter. The racing credits on this bike and its history in motorcycling is interesting. It is the largest 2-stroke vertical twin street bike ever made. It runs cool and never gets hot even in traffic on 90F weather. Power delivery is smooth like an electric motor. The exhaust note is quiet and transmission is smooth in all 5 gears. The bad part: This bike is cosmetically in only fair to good condition. The chrome has rust pitting. This includes the fenders, wheel rims, tail light brackets and shocks. The headlight bucket is in the worst condition. I was able to clean up the shocks and wheel rims pretty well. Please see photos. There is a weld repair on the right hand lever bracket but it is holding fine. The front fender stays are missing. The seat has a tear and there is a small crack in the rear fender where it mounts to the seat bolt. Odometer knob is missing. Tool kit is missing. Pot metal turn signals buckets are pitted and one lens is cracked and another is not the right size. Hand grips are in excellent condition but they don’t match. I do not have the owner’s manual but I do have the complete workshop manual. The good part: All of the cosmetic bits are easily changed or upgraded with new parts. For example a NOS headlamp bucket is readily available on ebay. The paint is original but tank is faded on top. The gas tank has zero rust – the previous owner stored the bike with a full tank of diesel to prevent rust while he kept it in his motorcycle collection. Excellent compression and I have not fouled a spark plug in 3k miles. The bike is rock solid reliable. The seat pan is not rusted and the cover is original. All the electrics work and battery is new. I had intended to do a frame up restoration but focused on making it a reliable and safe runner to enjoy first. The original valve can be rebuilt) This includes a new vacuum fuel pump.Changed crankcase / transmission oilReplaced case bolts with hex bolts and anti-sieze lubeBought spares such as fork seals, plugs, carb jets, points, foot peg rubber etc. New coils / plugs / condenserNew kick starter rubberBought the workshop manual Why sell? – The typical ‘lost my job and son is still in college and need to downsize and focus on other projects’ applies in this case. I will be glad to work with your shipper if you need to ship and I am pretty flexible on holding the bike for you after payment.
