Vehicle Detail
***This is the 3rd time I'm listing this car. I had someone begging me to end the auction promising they would be here Saturday with cash, I reluctantly did...Today they said they suddenly can't make it. The first time it sold to west coast bidder who didn't understand shipping costs, Ebay isn't a game, This auction will run its course and I'll report the bidder if they disappear. With that said: -I am listing my 1964 Cheville Malibu SS Convertible. The car is a real SS as the VIN starts with 458 (1964 didn't use the 138 yet). The car is NOT original and has many upgrades. It started life with a 283 and power glide, but now has a healthy 396 Big Block and Super T10 4 speed. (motor is from a 69 chevelle, and trans came from a 79 Z-28). -New Mcleod clutch about 500 miles ago. -New heater core and hoses last week so the heat works great! -New headers and new full flow master system and sounds pretty mean. The car is a lot of fun to drive and gets looks by everyone it passes. -New battery last week.-The braking system was upgraded to the newer, power, dual master cylinder and front disc. It stops like a regular car now. -The real eye catcher is the bright blue paint which I was told is from a mid 90's Corvette- Admiral blue. I believe the car was restored in the early 2000's and is starting to show its age. There are some dings, bubbles and scratches here and there but overall it looks great. The top of the 1/4 panel in the trunk has the VIN stamped so I believe the car has its original metal. The bumpers and molding are original so expect some dings.-Glastech 2" cowl induction hood (Fiberglass)-The top is in really good condition, the power motor isn't working so I just have my wife help me put it up and down (I have a brand !new motor in the box). -The interior is original and in pretty good shape for its age, it was originally light blue and someone dyed it white with dark blue accents to match the outside. It looks good and doesn't have any rips but is starting to wear.-The wheels are 60's replica Cragar S/S but they are 17's, NOT old school 14's. the car runs and drives great and I drive it almost every day. -The tail lights are grounded by the socket and after 52 years they are a little loose so the left rear turn/blinker works sporadically, I meant to order new LED units but never did. -The plastic switch behind the steering wheel probably cracked because you have to hold the stalk down for the left turn signal to work- all of this is pretty minor considering the cars age. These boxed frame convertibles are known for massive frame rot. The frame is really clean except for 1 small soft spot under the drivers door. It's really small and on the flat bottom so its in a really easy spot to repair I just never bothered. The average buyer probably wouldn't notice but I wanted to disclose everything.-Reverse lights were never hooked up the the 4 speed -If you wanted a real SS restomod with a big block 4 speed you'd expect to pay $40-50,000. This car isn't perfect but has the looks of a big dollar ride for a fraction of the price, Bid to own.... NO RESERVE. The last auction I had some questions about reliability... I would drive it to Florida tomorrow!
