Vehicle Detail
Good old OVERLANDER Trooper. Retired couple were using it to do the seasonal trip from Alaska to central Mexico, but they're too old for that trip now, and in September they drove it 1000 miles north again for the last time. I'd like to see any of the other old rubbish listed on EBAY do that trip. They dropped it here with me in LA, which is where I found the truck about 5 years ago, so it is fully dry and rust free, as it was a Los Angeles vehicle to start with. Nice and clean underneath, No rust. Good solid old V6 Trooper, done a lot of miles, 350 on the clock more or less, but it's had at least 2 motors in that time and the truck drives fine. About 2 years ago, they stopped for a jiffy lube oil change in Oregon. I know, not the best move, as you actually have to know how to tighten up an oil drain plug - which they didn't, leading to a sudden dumping of the entire contents of the crankcase all over 1/2 a mile of interstate. Nice. And you thought Oregon was a 'green' State? Anyway, the halfwits that caused this had to pay up, so I shipped a very nice rebuilt motor up there for them and it's been great ever since. Probably only 4000 on this new engine.. Brakes are fine, trans fine, clutch fine. I see it has a seep from one of the rad seams, so I'll fix that this week. Some of the gauges don't work, but there are warning lights. Tires fine, not new but fine. Scruffy inside, surprisingly presentable outside. White paint is quite good for the age. couple of dings and scrapes. AC doesn't work, lights, heater, wipers do. This truck has ALASKA title, reg, and plates. I've been asked to find it a home. It's good for going cross country, or parts, or whatever you want . Starts right up, battery good, DRIVE IT AWAY ANYWHERE. This truck has had many adventures and it's not done yet! Just to be clear, the recent history of the truck is that at the start of the year it drove down from Alaska to Mexico, was used lightly all year, and just did the trip north to LA. It has a clean Alaska title which has been signed off.It has an Alaska reg. document that says 'permanent' in the expiry date section. this was issued in July 2014 and says 'permanent', so it is current. Permanent tags are given out in Alaska for older vehicles. This was originally a CA vehicle before it was taken to Alaska. As such, it has all the emissions equipment fitted. I can't see any deletions of smog equipment. Cat converter is there as well. The car was driven onto my property this week and I've been asked to find a home for it. On Nov-15-15 at 11:58:45 PST, seller added the following information: This is an addition to the small amount of info I gave. I've been busy this week, but yesterday I had a chance to look at this truck. Starts right up from cold. Engine sounds great and is dry underneath. The oil pressure switch was leaking (the only leak) so I replaced it. The exhaust manifold to down pipe gasket was blowing badly so I replaced that. So it sounds nice now as well. Tires definitely useable and the spare is new; Full set of 5 factory alloy wheels. The drivers seat rocks around! I thought before that the front left runner bolt had come out, but I see now that the seat bracket has broken. I think as far as driving this thing a long way, this seat problem needs fixing. You can get me to weld it up for 50 Bucks if you like, but it's not included in the sale price. Having just checked the vehicle records as supplied by EBAY o the sale site, I see everything matches up, and it shows they smogged this in LA before traveling around and re-registering it in Alaska. However, looking at the mileage records, I'd have to revise UP my estimate of miles done on the new motor! There's probably TWO round trips from Central Mexico to Alaska on her, plus everyday use, so I'd say there are more like 12 to 15 Thou on this motor. Nice long distance miles, I'd say this engine was really solid and in it's prime. We don't know if a new clutch was fitted when they installed the new engine in Oregon. With this kind of mileage, obviously a lot of parts have been replaced over the years, but there are no records of what and where. Guages all work fine, but the 4WD light and the low fuel light seem to be permanently lit? I'll take a look at those if you want me to as well. Radio works, AC is all there but not working. Left headlight has stone damage so is discolored inside from moisture but works fine. Lights work fine , wipers work, heater works. Let's be clear about this…. I'm not the owner and it's an Alaska vehicle. Check the 'vehicle history' section. It's all there. I have nor driven this outside my property as I don't know if I'm allowed to or not with the out of state plates. This vehicle should really go back out of state and be re- registered wherever that is. If it stays in California it needs to be smogged and re-registered at CA DMV, and I am not responsible for, or paying for, any paperwork issues. I BELIEVE ANY OUT OF STATE VEHICLE THAT STAYS IN CA NEEDS TO BE RE-REGISTERED WITHIN A MONTH! If the buyer is in CA, THEY MUST DEAL WITH THIS! Having said that, this is a California model, and it passed smog when it was last registered in this state. Any questions, 818 445 6992
